To help dry out my carpet I'm going to need to rip it up... Can anyone tell me what tools I'm going to need? I need to do this at an off-site location so my 'rents don't know about it |

I think the carpet is glued to the floor board (at least the cargo area was, tried to remove it to change the fuel filter). Correct sockets to remove the bolts holding the seats down. I remember someone on here herculined their floor boards, dont remember if he put the carpet back on. |

i have an 06 but if they are the same the rear cargo area is riveted down so you'll need to drill out the rivets in the tie down plastic thingers. the rest is removing the seats, center console, and some plastic trim. |

Beepbeepjeepjeep Have you tried to use a GOOD shop vac to suck up the moisture. Then steam clean the carpets and leave all the doors open on a sunny day and it should be good! Much easier then pulling the carpet! You can by a good small steam cleaner for under $80.00. Josh |

There is a mat under the carpet that when wet wont dry unless the bottom of it is exposed. |

Is the carpet glued down or anything? Edit: It's NOT the rear cargo carpet |

Be kinda cool if you could rip out the whole carpet and then line the floor with that rubberized stuff you dip plyers/tools handle into. Rubberize the whole floor like a husky liner...just permanently coated. or not!! LOL |

That would be a cool idea... but it would be a pain in the booty. |

carpet is not glued down but to get the main carpet out you'll need to remove kick panels, bottom door plastics, seats and center console. |

2nd, been there done that. though you can leave the center console and pull the carpet a good ways up, then shove a fan under there to dry it out. |

for that kind of situation you're in, you might just want to remove the plastic molding in the doorway (to gain access to the carpeting) and just lift the carpeting and prop up a 2x4 and run a fan under there for a day or two straight..just as effective as removing everything like the ctr console etc. but less of a headache |

The carpet is not glued down. You'll have to remove all the seats to remove it. You don't have to remove the center console, but it's easy to remove and would make putting the carpet back in much easier. You'll need 10mm, 15mm, 17mm, 18mm sockets and a T40 or T50 torx for the seat belts (I forget which). The carpet in the cargo area is held down by the cargo hooks, which are riveted in. To remove them, you'll have to drill out the rivets. |

Can anyone tell me what tools I'm going to need? I need to do this at an off-site location so my 'rents don't know about it There are a couple of key questions needing to be answered here. first is HOW did it get wet? is there a leak situation we can help out with? was it cause by wheeling through a BIG mud puddle? Did it involve alcohol? spilled beer? why do the "Rents" not need to find out, which they will, I'll bet ya. If it was a wheeling situation how did it get THAT wet where you have to remove ALL of the carpet? Maybe over reacting a bit, slow down on the removal. There are carpet dryers out there that work great, for a price. |

Put the floor mats back in and driving it around. I actually think it looks BETTER without the carpet. The 'rents can't know about it because they're paying for the Jeep at the moment The moral of the story is: WATER = BAD |

Lessons learned: 1. Let Hummers get stuck first 2. If you get in water lower than the bottom of the doors, GO OUT THE LIFT GLASS IN THE REAR. DO NOT OPEN DOORS! 3. Libby's Don't SURF! Good luck and get the Rents drunk before ya tell them about it. Always worked for me. |
