Is this possible. My jeep won't fit in my new garage. I plan to take of the roof rails, and it would be nice if I could lower it maybe half an inch or so it can barely fit. Is this possible? Would it have any negative effects or problems? I like to run over potholes and small bumps without slowing down so I may have to change my habits a bit. Or it will cost me about $2000 to get a new garage door and re-run the piping. EDIT: Oh well, I guess I will have to buy new tires because these wouldn't fit.. And it would cost me more $$, so I guess forget about this, there is no way I could lower the jeep and keep my tires. What was I thinking??? |

My garage is a storage area since my Jeep doesn't fit in it. |

Mine won't fit so I keep it outside where everyone can see it with the alarm on. |

Hyed......I would raise the garage before lowering the KJ' I can't see what you got there but new rails and garage door is not $2,000. Get other prices on what you need. Get a sawzall and take a foot off the top of the garage and reframe the top. Then get a rail and cut it and splice two pieces in at the bottom and raise the rail assembly a foot and then a new garage door and you're done. If you were closer I would come down there and help you. |

Does you garage door go ALL the way up, flush with the frame? If not, there should be a limit screw or something you can adjust to change how far up your opener takes the door. It varies by model, but they should all have some method of adjusting the doors minimum and maximum height. |

Is your KJ stock? If so, you have something wrong with your garage. There shouldn't be a garage that small.....unless it was built 70 years ago. If that is the case, the garage needs to be mod'd. |

With my lift, new wheels, tires Gecko Roof Basket, KC hilites... I figured I would have between 1/2 and 3/4 inch to spare. Actual: right at 5/8" (with out my fat booty adding sag to the KJ) When i built my Garage (last year) I had it elevated above the last high water mark in my backyard after a day of 6 inches of rain. Doesnt happen often but... a little CYA. Anyway, the result was a Ramp/Apron to drive into the garave allowing the front to go in at a diiferent angle than the rest of the KJ allowing EVEN MORE clearance. Good Luck. |

Make that 85 years old. Circa 1925 Garage is attached, there are units on top of it. Albert, it is two car garage, therefore the quote I have from a few places is that $1200 for the garage door (about $1500 for a better one, or $1000 for a cheaper thinner one) and $300 for the motor and remotes. Tax, Delivery, pipes, etc.. almost $2k The problem with the current door is that it has some kind of piece on the top and it has pipes going inside for heating units above garage, so I am guessing unless I move those pipes bigger door won't help. I cannot park outside, it is shared driveway. I can probably park right in front but then I would have to block the second car's space, which I plan to rent. |

Sounds as if you're just going to have to lower the floor! |

It is not rental unit, it is my own. Sorry, we cannot dig it up, the heating oil tank is underneath the garage. Blake, I will be there some time this week, if I don't forget my camera I will take a few pictures for you guys and post them here. |

Nope, I checked, it would scrape the roof top. When I slide open the garage door, it stands a little below top of the frame, so it won't work. |

I'd assume it's the back that's higher, so worse comes to worse toss some weight in the back if 1/2 inch would clear it... shouldn't need much more than 150 lbs |
