Hi!

Not many here driving with this engine but maybe someone knows what might cause hesitation on my 03 cherokee. There was tsb about changing the sparkplugs + wires, i changed those but it didnt help.

Hesitation happens when i give it some gas, sometimes it feels like one cylinder is not working at all but most of the time its just small hesitation. On full throttle it works ok, my car has about 15 000 miles.

What i should change next? ignition coil maybe?

greetings,
kristian

Have you let your dealer look at it yet?

Have you checked for any trouble codes yet? [it's free]

I had a similar problem with the 3.7. There is a related TSB on the '04 3.7 manual. They "flashed" the engine as per the TSB and the problem disappeared.

Maybe it's a programming problem on several of the models? If the dealer can't fix it, you should report it anyway in case they come up with a fix after you're out of warranty!

Try driving with the A/C off (Not on defrost either, as the A/C comes on automatically then too). The load of the compressor kicking in is very noticable on light throttle conditions especially on the 2.4 and can feel like a brief misfire.

I drive AC off most of the times, no need for it here in the north, but yes, the hesitation my car has feels just like ac compressor going on/off.

My car has not been at dealer since 2003 so maybe there is new software for engine ecm, i must ask that.
