We all know that the liby got like a heli sound (whoobeling/ humming) when the back door window are down.I would like to know if that sound go away if you got one or the other :the renegate lightbar or the plastic on the roof rack, just like the renegate. I also made myself some crossbar out of aluminium SQUARE tubing that i had, when nothing is on it. The win make them do the same humming sound. I take them out when i don't need them.Does the MOPAR or a other brand (round one or oval)do the same thing when nothing is on it. Just can't stand that noise! thank 2002 Limited Nightshift. |

WOW, the french to english translation is tough to read... ANYTHING on the roof such as light bar, tuperware, etc will result in wind noise. ANY cross bar will have some level of wind noise. the oval ones, theoreticly, will have less due to less wind resistance. good luck. |

the owners manual calls what you are describing as "wind buffeting". I believe because the KJ gets slightly wider as you move from front to back that the rear windows"catch" the air and the presure in the cabin then won't allow it to circulate properly back out so you get that annoying, almost painful sound/feeling in your ears. best way to deal with it is to leave the rear windows up when highway driving. |

I ALWAYS have my windows down. Winter too. I have found that if both front windows are open and I open the back windows half way, the noise is not as bad. But, If I have the fronts open and the drivers side pass window half way and the back pass window open 1/4 of the way, the noise does not happen at all. I also have rain guards on my KJ. not sure if that helps to lower that noise. Oh yea, I have the light bar and I did notice more roof noise after I installed it. |

I have the renny light bar and a roof rack and I get no wind noise from it. Quote: DryBones You are correct, adding vent visors and just cracking the windows instead of having them all the way down helps alot.I kinda enjoy that sound though since I have blown both ear drums 3 times it is kinda soothing and help my ears pop when changing altitude.

I have considered seeing if Chrysler Caravan rear windows or at least there mechanism would work on a Liberty. They are like a power vent. Would be nice to be able to pop them open and suck the air through the cabin. |
