At least that's what I can see.. I have little mechanical know-how. Do I need to replace the whole unit or can I repair something? |

Doesn't sound good if the A/C compressor isn't turning it sound like it's shot. That was the first repair I had on my '02 when I bought it on july of '06. Lucky for me they fixed it under warranty. If the pump has seized it's probably toast. |

Low refrigerant. You probably have a leak. You can try a recharge kit or jump the low pressure switch. |

chances are you are low on refrigerant. with the engine off, you should be able to turn the center part of the compressor to check that it isn't locked up. |

I bought a recharge kit and tried filling it. There's a huge leak on the condenser. |

You are lucky. The old AC units would continue to run and lock up the compressor and throw the cerpintine belt. BIG bucks for repair. As it is, the ac compressor will stop running when low on r134a or what ever it has in it as a safety valve for the compressor. It is supposed to do that. Condensors are realitivly cheap from a variety of outlets. Best to have someone who really knows what is going on. The refrigerent has the lube for the copressor mixed in it. It also has a kind of green dye in it. Use a florecent or ultraviolet (black light) to locake the leak(s) in the system. Do this before you take it some where as they MIGHT wanna replace more than you need. Be glad it did stop. saved you big bucks. |
