I ordered my bumper on Feb.10, 08. I still don't have it. I have been given a couple of delivery dates so far, and past them. What I want to know is how many people have received their bumpers? How long did it take? Jason is having some production problems I understand.

I ordered mine Feb 7th. Emailed Jason about 4 weeks ago asking when to expect it. Reply was "To be honest I dont yet I have been trying to get them done, But sometimes my dayjob gets in the way I will let you know when it is close so you can arange the shipping." I was wondering like you as to whether anyone was receiving them because no pictures are being posted. I am concerned because he has all the money up front, this may have made him not as motivated to get product out. I would think he could at least tell a timeframe as how many are in front of you. I have heard grumblings from others about slow production time.

Well, Autrailia is a staunch ally and ARB does employ Americans here in the US (Like ARB Seth) so it ain't all bad.

I bought my rear bumper from Marty. His day job, night job and weekend job is RL Fabrications......just saying. Last I checked, Colorado Springs is in the US but Boulder......that's a different issue :)

I ordered my rear bumper from Marty. He was upfront and told me how long it would be before I could expect it. I had no problem with that when I ordered.

What was that about "so you could arrange shipping" thing? I haven't heard that before.

Did you have to pay the full amount, or did you pay a certain balance to get on a waiting list, or did they put you on a waiting list without payment necessary?

Since there was no production of, history of, or trust/reputation built by that guy, giving him the money up front was a huge risk on those people that did it. He should come on here and state his case to the masses. He had his design completed, product made, and tested. There should not be a reason to buy before he had some ready to be sold and shipped. With RL, he has built his business and reputation, lives close enough, and I know where he lives.

I bought something from him before the bumpers started and he got it to me no problem. It is probably just taking him longer than he thought with all the orders coming in. I remember having to wait for my rock rails, no biggie as long as I knew it was still on its way and it was worth the wait. You did buy on a credit card right?

I've met him personally (bought his 16" rims and tires off him), he seems like a stand up guy to me.

Having tried to manufacture and sell items before myself, you guys need to give him a little slack. He works full time and has a family. I am betting he had no idea his bumpers would be so popular. He is not Rock Lizard who's career is making this stuff. He's doing it on the side and so you can't really expect him to be able to bang out bumpers one right after the other.

Anyone who bought from him should have realized he was just another KJ'er who decided to try and make some money off of his love for the Jeep and his skill as a welder. Not every small business starts out knowing exatly what they are getting themselves into.

I'm not saying you guys shouldn't grumble, I'm just saying you should consider all the facts. I listen to people all day long calling in to dispute charges they placed on their credit cards. Half of them got themselves into a situation that could have been avoided by thinking things through. Many of them start out by telling me: "I ordered an item from this small, never heard of, online company and now I can't get ahold of them and I never got my product."
Boo hoo.

A little discretion goes a long way. I'm willing to bet that JHCRASH thought he would only get a few people interested in his product, hence the pre-production price to entice buyers. Then he got more orders than expected and got swamped. Life happens. Deal with it.

I remember seeing not too long ago that RL was having trouble getting stuff from his suppliers so it delayed product from going out. Things happen. We should be glad that people are willing to make stuff for our KJ's. It's not like we all have tj's, yj's, and even jk's where every major manufacturer jumps all over each other to make parts for them. We own vehicles that are unique with very little aftermarket support. Take what you can get or buy a wrangler.

And yes, I can be brutally honest at times. :D

I understand that Jason probably got more orders than he imagined he would and is behind schedule, but some communication would be nice.

I can definitely understand that feeling. I certainly would be a bit frustrated that I didn't really know what was going on. Hopefully he will have a chance to see this post and give veryone a public update on what is going on.

It's things like this that show me how true some advice a friend gave me is. When somehting new comes out, wait until the fourth version before you buy it. By then it will have come down in price and/or had most of the bugs worked out of it.

This is what I'm seeing with things like JBA's 4 and 6 inch lifts. Heck, just look at their A-arms, they are on their 5th version and are even better than before, and I think they either cost the same or only a little bit more.

It's fun to be an innovator, but it costs you in the long run. That's why I'm patiently waiting until I have extra money and can buy all the upgrades that everyone else has tried out first and found what works and what doesn't! :D

I'll let everyone else have fun breaking stuff and fixing it over and over till it works right. Then I can just upgrade my Jeep and not have near as many issues.

He is supposed to make me a stinger bar but I haven't paid him anything so no sweat. I want it and it was a few months ago, he did email me and say he was behind.

There are so few fabricators making stuff for Liberty's that I'm always in the camp of giving them considerable leeway on delivery dates. I'd just as soon keep them working on Liberty products than have them get frustrated with the KJ community and move on to some other platform.

Building up inventory without buyers is very risky. You have to develop a product, then wait and see what the demand is going to be and then be very careful not to commit too much as another fabricator may jump in with something newer and better that pulls the demand from your product. If demand is high you run the risk of falling behind. You could expand and hire help, but you could be left out on a limb with product, payroll and no buyers.

Not that they shouldn't be setting expectations on how long its going to take, but these kind of businesses are started on a shoestring and are run at the hairy edge of profitability.

I like his design, I haven't ordered yet, but so far looks like quality is high and customers are satisfied.
