Hey just a quick question I want to get the mud off my engine from last weekends adventure. Is it okay just to use a regular garden spray hose on it?? If so should the engine be on or off??

Thanks

I would wash the motor cold and definatly not running. You don't want to suck any water into the intake. My 2 cents.

I would agree that washing the engine cold is best, but I have used the local self-serve car wash to do it with no problems.

I hose the engine down while it's hot and running-if you do it while the engine ISN'T running, water can/will pool up in the intake, whereas with the engine running, a mist of water won't hurt anything.

also, the hot engine running won't crack a head if you use cold water (but, if you can, use hot water. most self-serve carwashes use hot water for that reason)

After a Paragon ride, i sprayed mine down w/Gunk while warm. Hosed it thoroughly w/the garden hose sprayer and then let it air dry. Then ran it on the road to dry it the rest of the way. Just didn't spray directly into the intake. Everything was fine.

Just wanted to thank all you guys for the advise. The engine was cold the water was cold and there was a bag over the aftermarket cold air intake. Sprayed it down let it dry and started it up. No more shake from the fan so I am happy!! Thanks again guys.
