Post subject:  So Long Sirius

Okay,

Now that my free first year of Sat. Radio is up....

Had some great phone conversations with the sales jerks from Sirius. Told them to Not pay that ( * ) Stern so darned much money so they could lower the subscription fees and i could NOT listen to him even cheaper. I don't think they liked my suggestion.

Anyway, as of this week sometime they cut me off.

Question: What to do with the antenna that I do not need anymore?

Can i use it for a gps antenna?

Also can i just unplug the sat radio input on the head unit and plug in an iPod? Wait a minute, I haven't wasted any money on that thing either. So what am I to do with the thing?

Here is the simple way to get around paying for satelite radio (definately works on XM, never tried it on sirius). If you have a subscription, or get one of the little radios with 3 free months......a couple days before you subsrciption is supposed to expire, unplug the power from the reciever and disconect the antenna. Your service is started and stopped throught a signal sent by the satelites, when your subscription is over, they send out the signal to your specific reciever.....well you can't get that signal if the antenna is unplugged. Wait about a week or 2, then you're good to go. My free trial expired in february and I still get it, too bad XM sucks so i don't use it all that often.

We can't live without it. No commercials. Good music. $12.70 a month but you pay for the year.

Mine's up this week too. My wife is driving the 2007 Liberty now anyways and she doesn't even use it. I used to listen to it all the time. I just moved my xm radio to the Rennie today.

I was an early adopter. My fees did not change when they hired Howard. I never miss his show though.

I pay twelve and some change a month and would gladly pay up to twenty for their service! It beats the hell outta fm! Sooooo many music choices but I usually only jam on HardAttack. And Howard!!! Fist yeah!!! Completely off the chain on Sirius!! Love the dude! Just tells it how it is!! I have a twisted dense of humor though too! Thats all I listen too on the way to work in the mornings.

Plus I only pay month to mopnth, not yearly.

I truely believe FM will eventually go the way of the dinosaurs eventually anyways.

Personally I have a CD with Hendrix, Cash, and Eve 6 that I have been rocking.

When I feel like something different I just grab the ipod and select what I want to hear.

I'm hardly in the vehicle long enough to justify paying for airwaves. If I do go on a long drive I just stick in a CD and drive. Something about paying for the radio just doesn't work for me.

Too late for this, Maybe not.

They have already cut me off.

can I disconnect it and re-connect it and get a it back on. Only thing i listen to is the Bluegrass channel. all the rest is crap, yes even stern. I sure as hell don't wanna pay to listen to his crap.

They should pay me to listen to his stupidity. Now the Bluegrass music is great, just not worth 145.00 a year.

Woody,
I am concerned about the venom in your OP. Why the anger towards Sirius? I pay $12.40/month which comes out to 42 cents/day. I wish everything else I used only cost that much. BTW, do you have cable TV? how much per month does that cost you...WITH commercials? I won't even ask you about other things you may use on a daily basis that cost a whole lot more but I will list a few that people don't think twice about: Cigarettes, alchohol, soda pop, candy bars, etc. Even milk and gas cost WAY more than 42 cents/day. For me and how much I use it I feel Sirius is well worth the money.
As always...YMMV 8)

Just because they have more channels and no commercials doen't make it better.

Hell that's what I have a cd player for.

I agree with a previous post where I don't like paying for something i can get for free. I'd like to see anybody buy a beer for .42 cents a day....

It just seams like a waste of money for a product that is not all that great. I do not want 24 hours of nascar or god forbid the nba. WHY?

And I sure don't want to listen to some loud mouth shock jock who is over paid to cuss on the radio. But I do like the Bluegrass music.

My anger is with the telephone marketers trying to get me back on the hook.

I would tell them "No Thanks too much money and Stop paying Stern so much so you don't have to charge as much..." and they would say "Oh well we have a quarterly payment of..." and I would say, Do the math, that's MORE money."

Then the sales idiot would say Oh Okay then we have a Monthly rate of..." and I would return with "You Idiot, do the math again, that's even MORE money."

Some people fall for that sales pitch. I got 3 calls a day for over a month and a half.

Now back to the issue, Is it hard to use that connection for an iPod, which i don't own yet and will proprably never buy since i have a 6 disc cd player? Kind of makes it all look pretty silly, doen't it?

OK, I agree about telemarketers in general  and my point about beer and anything else is that people are more than willing to pay alot more than 42cents a day for other thing but 42 cents a day for a radio system with 100 channels and virtually no commercials is WAY TOO MUCH??? :? I wish I could pay 42cents/day for my cable TV , now that would be a deal! BTW my #1 Sirius preset is the bluegrass channel !
take care and you could always mount a CB antenna in that hole on the roof!

I think it is way too much because regular radio is free, as in 0 cents a day. Plus I have an ipod and there are zero commercials and I listen to exactly what I want all the time. Plus I own the music. Paying for radio seems fundamentally wrong to me.
