I don't know of anyone who has retrofitted any car for E85. The benefits of this product are still pretty much in debate. I know you get less power with it. With its limited availability around me, unkown impact on human and animal feed prices, and reportedly increased maintenence costs/ longevity issues, I am not sold on paying money to retrofit a vehicle for it. If you do it, please keep us posted. |

i know that E85 is very corrosive, so there are some components that you need that im not sure are provided in this kit, like stainless steel fuel rails, different fuel lines and the like. it probably affects your powertrain warranty in a negative way and if this kit only costs 370-430 bucks, wouldnt more car manufactures offer a E85 version of their engines? im not saying it wont work but in the long run... how will this affect reliability? |

E85 is a fallacy and I will not support it in any shape or form on the principle of it. |

I agree with you Sir Sam. Not to mention, I've read somewhere that it is worse for the environment in the long run, AND because the goernment is now subsidizing corn growing, that is the reason our wheat prices are skyrocketing. The farmers are switching from wheat to corn to "fuel" this fallacy! Global warming is a myth people. The Earth has life cycles just as humans do. In the 70's the big issue was Global COOLING! If you don't believe me, look it up. There is no better friend to Capitalism than an educated consumer. Please do your part! |

Most car companies do offer flex-fuel versions of their vehicles now. But why do you want to spend money to convert to a fuel that will get you less horsepower and torque. And worst of all, you think the Liberty gets bad mileage now, wait till you switch to E-85. You'll be puling in to every fuel stop that sells it because your mileage will go down the crapper. |

X2! That stuff does more harm to the economy and environment than people know. SavageUrge hit it squarely on the head! |

Well i installed the kit about 3 weeks ago. I got it from the same site that your looking at getting it from. It took me about 15 min to install; of which 5 was actual install; the rest was just anchoring everything down. I do agree with the majority of the comments that e85 is debatable if its worth it. An its different for every state but here in wisconsin the grain used for it is field corn. So the only things that are loosing out are a bunch of dairy cows. This fuel may be long lived or a great replacment for straight gasoline but I'm at least making a physical attempt to move away from traditional fuels. Anyway down to the facts of if its worth it now. Before the install i went through the major components that could be harmed by the acidic nature of the e-85. The first thing i did before even buying the kit was switch to e-20 for about a month. I checked parts over after running it for the month and found that the plastics were in the same condition that they were in before. I did change my oil about 1800 miles premature of my normal 4500 miles because it was so dirty due to the new fuel disolving pre existing deposits. I still have about another wee to go before i pull off the stuff again and see if there is any damage from the e-85. So far so good; the engine runs smoother and sounds better. I have the same throttle response i had before and i get about 2mpg better than before; I attribute that to the summer mixture not the e-85. So all in all im satisfied with the system. So in about a week or 2 look in the e85 section and see the updates to the complete numbers. |

Sir Sam wrote: *grumbles and shakes head in frustration and futility* Now come on,E-85 woeks and if the vehicle is outfitted properly there is no harm.Your CRD polutes more then a vehicle running E-85.I make money off of E-85,many do,I don't use it but it is very popular in my home town area since they recieve tax breaks for it.Get over it,it's just like your biodesiel, just a short term fix that hurts some and profits some.

KJ4ME is right I wrote a research paper @ Metro E85 vs. Biodiesel (neither is a good long term solution). E85 is VERY Corrosive, ALL Flex Fuel vehicles had stainless steel tanks, fuel lines etc. for this reason. The EPA doesn't approve ANY E85 conversions, and you're fooling yourself if you think cheaper gas with poorer fuel mileage is your answer... |

e85 is only a 100 extra iirc for a flexfuel |

Neither is a viable long term solution, we can't grow enough crops to run everything on biodiesel & ethanol. The stat that I found with stood out the most was that it was take the acreage of 97% of US land mass to GROW enough corn for everyone's (gassers) to have enough fuel every year. Ethanol is subsidized by the gov keeping it cheap & driving up prices. Most Biodiesel produced in the US gets exported. |

KEY WORD CHEAP IT WOULD COST ME ABOUT 45 BUCKS TO FILL MY TANK COMPARED TO THE 72 I FILL WITH REG. LIKE I SAID ITS $2.59 FOR E85 AND $4.19 FOR PREMIUM. E85 HASN'T ROSE IN PRICE WHERE GAS IN GENERAL KEEPS GOING UP. I KNOW ITS NOT A LONG TERM FIX FOR EVERYONE BUT FOR ME IT JUST SEEMS SO ECONOMICAL. LIKE I SAID I WILL WAIT AND SEE HOW IT DOES IN C co Crusader 2/127 TRUCK. I HAVE ALWAYS RAN E10 WITH NO ILL EFFECTS AND IF YOU GO TO THAT LINK IT SHOWS A 2001 TAHOE AT THE TECH SHOOL I WAS LOOKING AT GOING TO. THEY STATE IT HASNT DONE ANY HARM AND NOTHING HAS RUSTED OUT FROM E85 SO FAR. |
