Leave out of the house at 7:00 AM this morning to go wheelin. Drive about 4 miles to the gas station and while filling up I begin to smell something like rubber burning. I reach down to the left rear rotor and it's HOT! Have to drive back home, jack up the KJ, pull the tire, throw on a C-clamp to compress the piston. C-clamp bends, unbolt the caliper, pull the pads. They're almost down to the metal, so no damage to the rotor. Undo the brake line and hang it with a baggy tied on the end. Run in the house, call Advance auto parts, cell phone drops call 3 times in a row, finally get through, they have a left in stock but not loaded with pads. Fire up trusty Ford Ranger, drive to parts store, get caliper and a set of pads. Get back, jack up other side of KJ, pull tire, compress piston with bent C-clamp, remove pads. Mount new caliper, attach brake line, move to other side to install pads and low and behold, 2 car loads of unexpected company shows up. Guess I wasn't meant to wheel today
