Ok Guys. So far I've not been able to find a thread on this topic, maybe you can help.

I'm about due for an oil & filter change. So I took a look at the situation and have a question. How do you remove the oil filter without getting oil all over the components directly below it? :roll: :roll:

There must be a secret. :wink:

Thanks;
Ken

Punch a hole in it and catch that drain first :?:

I actually looked under my jeep to get a bearing for all those kinds of things today (was working on my Ranger, so I just rolled over) and decided i may just keep letting the dealers (Oil/Filter/Lube = 9.99 due to the endless supply of coupons I get in the mail ;) )

If you can unscrew it very carefully and tip it a little towards the back you can pour most of the oil down the little runner that was put there for that purpose, but you'll probably end up making a little mess anyway.

I'm planning on installing a realocator kit whenever I figure out where to put it.

When I changed the oil the other day almost all of the dripage from the filter landed in the little spillway and we directly to the end of the spillway. Once I realized that the spillway was there, I was able to move my oil tray to catch it. It actually does a really good job of catching the oil and directing it down to one spot.
