Post subject:  radio shuting off!?

well the other day i was driving down the road listing to a Cd when it quiet and no music was playing. well i looked at the clock, and it had cleared itself and was reading 12:00 and the Cd stopped and the volume was all the way down :x . i check the presets and all were still there. and worked fine. i changed the clock back to the right time and played the Cd again.

that was like 3 weeks ago. well it has started up again it has done this 3 time in the last two days. has anyone had this issue at all. i have read here that people have had problems with there dash lights blinking bright to dim. i have the same thing happening. all i did was set the brightness to a lower setting and seams to be ok.could this be part of my issue? HELP it is getting to be a pain in the A##!!!! :x

Sounds like what happens to me when i push the tune/ fast forward button, it turns the volume down resets the clock, go's to am frequencies and clears my presets, iv learned to stay away from the button, but every once in a while i forget and push it or hit it on accident like i did today

well i found out that it will not shut it's self off with just the fm radio on but when you put a cd in it will play a few songs or half way though one song and it will shut off. it's never the same aomount of time. some times i can listin to a hole cd and others it will only play one song. what a pain  . i am thinking of going to the junk yard and getting one from there,or just put a after market one in. i realy like the sound of the stock radio. they are like 400 brand new from the dealer  !!

That is the first time i've EVER heard that about a stock Jeep radio of any sort. Jeep sound systems are notoriously underpowered and tinny.

I have a 2002 as well and no problems with the radio/CD/clock as of yet. Although I did have something weird happen this weekend that made me wonder. I was driving along (at night) and my overhead console lights blinked on and off about 4 times, couldnt figure out what caused it.

I was hoping I'm not starting to have any of the electrical problems that I have read about here. Odd

I had a similar problem. The problem was with the on- off and volume control knob. The Warranty was up so I found a used one on Ebay and installed it. The problem with the knob caused the radio to shut off and the clock to go off when it acted up. I have had no problem since installing the new radio.

i guess you have never herd any Ford or GM stock sound system. when i had a ponitac grand prix and a thunderbird the first thing to go was the stock sound systems. and i went pioneer head unit and a two 400 watt amps runing two 12"s and two 15"s in the thunderbird and a 1500 watt amp in the pontiac runing 2 mtx 8000 10"'s. and pioneer full range all around in both.

the jeep puts out a nice crisp thump and and a nice full range sound. i have had loud and sh$$ loads of bass and it just dosn't soud as good as listing to the music in a clean, clear, and crisp sound. you are right if you switch up to the better sound system it will change but i am happy with what i have just want it to play cd's when i want to!!!
