| Post subject: | MSN vs CRD? |
MSN has an article that appears to cite an article from Consumer Reports on the "Hits And Misses For 2005". http://autos.msn.com/advice/CRArt.aspx?contentid=4023543&src=News It lists the CRD as one of the top 10 disappointing cars. (HAHA, they think a Jeep is a car! The article says, "Jeep Liberty CRD The gasoline-powered Liberty is a decent small SUV, although its V6 engine gets poor fuel economy (15 mpg overall). Offering a diesel engine in the Liberty seemed promising, especially if it were as refined as other diesels we've driven recently. But the diesel-powered Liberty CRD is noisy and slow, and gets only 18 mpg overall." I don't own a CRD, but I haven't heard of anyone getting such poor mpg with the CRD? I already voiced my displeasure. At the very bottom of the web page there is a "feedback" link. If you also don't like this story you might want to let MSN know, especially if you are a CRD owner. I suggest that if you also don't like this story that you also let MSN know. |

Hmmm, I am having a dumb moment because I all I see is a place to email to a friend and to subscribe to CR. |

If you're looking for the "feedback" link, I had a hard time finding it at first too. It's in the blue area at the bottom ... bottom right next to help. I should also add that I don't have anything against MSN, but this particular story is a load of brown stinkies in my opinion. |

Well, the CRD is certainly not slow. And it gets WAY better fuel economy than my wife's V6 KJ. Noisy? Not really. At idle you can tell it's a diesel...but on the highway you can't even hear it running. I think it's a load of crap too. Jeep is trying to do something great by introducing diesels into the U.S., and these journalist morons are discouraging people from buying them by writing a bunch of garbage about a vehicle they obviously do not understand. |

It's too bad that CR is used by so many people when it's time to buy a vehicle. This isn't the first time they have "messed up" on a report. Only a small percentage of America will be smart enough to know that the Liberty Gas and the Liberty CRD are two different engine packages. The CRD was / is technology barrowed from Mercedes-Benz. The europeans have been using diesel longer than. So by barrowing from them, DCX was ahead of the game. I can't see how the CRD is a bad choice. Quoting a DCX tag line here "The torque of a V8, the Power of a V6, the gas milage of the 4 cylinder." That pretty much sums it up for me. Again, to me CR is overrated and very biased |

Unfortunately i dont think MSN is going to care much what we say. All they are doing is publishing the article. BUT, i did write back to them about why they would publish an article that is completely FALSE and it just plain not true. |

I sent them a nice little reply too. I even managed to not use any bad words. |
