Post subject:  Dash piece removal?

Has anyone removed the strip that goes along the front window? I started to mess with it last night and it's just clips all the way around but the sides wouldn't pop out for some reason. Is there something else holding it in? I'm getting antsy trying to install my new speakers!!

You need to remove the trim pieces from the 'A'-pillars (where the grab-bars are), then you can pull the strip out.

Did you find some tweeters that fit the factory holes? Mine went bad shortly after purchase but no-one at the dealership can hear what I'm hearing (I'm a classical musician and hearing crackly horns or tenors is like scraping fingernails on a chalkboard to me...). I'd love to replace them but don't want to pay crazy prices for the average stock units.

This is what I'm running, Fronts and tweeters and rear 2 ways.

They don't actually fit the factory mounts, the way I'm doing it I'll be cutting out the "grill'. The piece shown sandwiches the dash and holds it in place.

That's what I have. I cut the size hole I needed through the stock tweeter grills and mounted my tweeters there. It is nice that you can tilt the tweeters to get better sound. I have pics posted in the Electronics section.

Yes, you must remove the pillar trim and it stinks if you do not have a really long socket to get at the screws/bolts. Mine was a socket head. Some people have phillips heads or star drive heads.

Post subject:  Tweeters

I bought some tweeter adapters off of eBay a while back. The make it some you can use a more widely available, better sounding tweeters.
