| Post subject: | Painting center caps |
I have chrome center caps that came with my steel wheels but they are starting to rust pretty bad. Can I paint them a gloss back to match the rim? if so what would be the best way to do this? sanding and choice paints. thanks |

You really have to rough them up to get it to stick. Ideal thing would be to get them bead blasted. My local machine shop has a cabinet that works like a rotisserie and shoots beads around. they don't charge much to throw something in it. Especially if you aren't in a hurry and they can throw them in with another project. Then prime and paint. I like Rustoleum because it is cheap to paint and cheap to touch up. All that said, if it was me, I would probably just ditch the caps. |
