Post subject:  Fram hog air filter any good?

So I was at pep boys today, and they had fram preoiled hog air filters clearanced for 7 bucks, so I bought one. I installed it(dropped into the box-not cold air intake), and it seems to work well. Typically, I don't like fram - especially their oil filters, but this clearance deal was too hard for me to pass up. Any thoughts? It looks just like a k&n. Any issues with oil fouling air sensors or anything else? (Hey, I also got a free hotdog!)
Thanks for any replies.... :)

Air Hog was discontinued wasn't it?

I stick to Wix filters when ever possible.

Yea, that is why they were so cheap. Wix filters are really well rated. I think I might take out the hog and put the pureone back in. Looking at another sight, the problem with the oiled air filters is high silicone content in the used oil analysis. It doesn't happen with everyone, but does happen. I think I might be better off with a good paper filter.
But, all in all, my two boys and I got hot dogs and drinks, so if I decide to swap it out, it won't be too big of a loss...

never tried them, but if you're depending on an air filter to really give you more HP or MPG's you're a sucker. They may do a little, but no really that much. I've used K&N and now have an Amsoil.
Some claim they can feel a difference. i may be one of those with the K&N when I first put it in, but the real deal with ams or k&n is that you can re-use them.

For $7, why the heck not. It won't kill your engine and if it sucks (or doesn't for that matter) you can chuck it.

Let us know how it works out for you.
