 Post subject: glove box is a pain...

My glove box is a total PITA... i cant get it to close, after about 5 minutes of me playing with it, it randomly closed. Is this a common problem? should i just try to adjust the hook that it latches to? or is the latch just broken?

Never had that problem. Did you check if something is stuck in the latch, maybe blocking it from engaging completely?
Maybe the manual is sticking out a bit?

Never had a problem with mine or heard of people having a problem.

Like hyedipin said, check to make sure nothing is getting caught. Napkins always get caught in mine. :?

Had a similar problem with mine once. Turned out one of the bottom "hinges" poped out. still looked like it lined up to the eye, but it was off enough to keep the latch from engaging... Just had to pop the other hing out, line both back up, and not a problem since. Hope your problem is as easy to fix.

Glove box??? Do we even have one of those in the KJ?

Kidding aside, there was something in the way once when my wife was closing the glove box which led to the latch getting tripped like it had closed but it didn't. So until I reset that it wouldn't stay closed.

nothing was stuck in it, and i completely emptied it and took out the manual. Prob just needs to be re-aligned. I just wanted to check and see if it was a common thing or if i was just being a moron haha.

that happened to mine, i had to loosen the 2 screws in the "dash" part of the latch and move it farward because it wasnt hooking/sticking out far enough for the "door" part of the latch, to latch to it

the glove box is a huge PITA. You can barely fit anything in there. All my records get stuck in the stupid latch and I have to fold them up to fit. WORST GLOVE BOX EVER!!! and the center console isn't any better.

yeah mine also gives me alot of problems. i just keep paper work in there and they always make it really hard to shut. it would be nice if it was big enough to use. oh well not everything can be perfect i suppose. i still love my jeep :D

yeah you would think a glove box would be big enough to keep gloves in, or at least a map. It is a Jeep.

at least it has a glove box of some sort... lol, try driving a 3rd gen camaro for 2 years, its like hell... the "glove box" in them things is in the trunk... please tell me why the hell you would locate a glove box in the TRUNK of a car??

lol i know, im always leaning over trying to jam stuff in my glove box so its out of the way of the latch so it will close, mumbling some words here and there haha :lol: so now its empty because i got tired of fiddling with it and put all that stuff that WAS in there, in my toolbox in the back of my jeep lol

Ive just come to the conclusion that the kj doesnt have enough cuby holes, so I dont complain anymore.

I keep maps and books in the door pockets and little to nothing in the glove box. Tire pressure guage, head unit face plate holder, and some napkins is about all I get in there(along with the manual). I keep misc things in the center console. Remote for stereo, tons of receipts, change, some cd cases, leather-man, etc.
