Ok so im runnin down the highway the other day and this guy in an older prelude pulls up next to me and raps his little fart can muffler and tries to take off...well we are doin like 80 and he doesnt pull away very fast so i down shift and floor it slide it up in 5th. We are acclerating going down the highway and i am right behind him....well the next thing i know my little jeep just hiccups i look down no lights so i floor it again just to maintain with this guy...watching the speedo cause i had a clue that it was the speed limiter...115mph.....speedo says 120. grrrr i wanna do what is sez.....plus the prelude was able to pull away.....i was just about to fly around him and put him in check cause i was gaining on him at a pretty good rate.....until the comp decided that it wanted to play big brother.....So my question.....How do I disconnect this speed limiter?

Well i was giving him a good run and had him lookin but the comp decided to do big bro on me. Had a sunfire GT that did the same thing speed limiter kick in while runnin a mustang i was fortunate enough that ford was usin a 110mph limit and the sunfire had a 115 limit...I also had a Geo Tracker that outran just about everything stop light to stop light....That was a fun lil sleeper. i dont normally run around in my KJ doin 115mph but it would be nice to know that i could top it out if i ever needed to...

Well I don't know. My dad just traded in his Honda S2000 (in favor of an RX330 for the winter, then a new sportscar in the spring), and that thing was fast as hell. I pulled up beside a new mustang at 80mph and he finally gave up at 135 (and I stopped accelerating at 140), but that was probably the dumbest thing I have ever done in my life.

Did I mention that I'm 16 and if I got caught doing something like that I would probably lose my license until im 21? Yeah thats why I shouldnt race :(

Put some 31" MTR's and a lift on it and you wont have to worry about doing over 100 on the highway at all.

I know that anything over 85 in my KJ is hairy...
i tapped the other side of 100 in my Isuzu Trooper once, and that was hairy too.

get a power programmer and remove the speed limiter. when you do 15 barrel rolls in your KJ and get dragged out with every bone broken in your body, that just means cheap KJ parts for us.

I know I will sound like your parents but 140 mph in anything will get you more than a suspended license. Dead people don't drive. (or anyone else they take out with them)

And people wonder why insurance rates are so high. You should be required to take a common sense test before they give you a license.

We may have a few future Darwin Award winners in our midst.

freedom...there IS a difference between 132 mph in a Thunderbird that has the rubber, and the suspension/brakes to do such things, and a KJ (which is more than likely stock with no handling/stability/braking modifications) doing 115. not the smartest thing, though, i agree :D

the funnier thing is that my dad works for an insurance company

I would be &(##ed if he ever found out or if I was ever dumb enough to do it again. It had to be done once though

You know I am 21 and in Germany and there is no speed limit. I don't go over 65 mph. Once you have a beautiful wife sitting next to you and child on the way you will think twice about it.

That "big brother limit" also has to do with the speed rating of the tires it comes with. I have no problem with you going that fast and wrapping yourself around <insert most any object here>- my worry is when you have to stop that heavy KJ because your coming up on me and my family doing 110 and we get inserted as the object above. Slow down and enjoy the ride.
