Have a little one on the way and the Liberty will be our main vehicle....was wondering ....

What kind (brand) of rear facing infant seats do you all use in your liberties, and what seat place do you use? (do they ONLY fit in the middle?)

I'd rather ask you all here and get a good idea before i start pulling my hair out(what little is left) trying to decide :)

thanks in advance.

Bryan

We have a 1 year old and used the Gracco Snug Ride. We bought the "Travel system" with the stroller included. This car seat was in the top 3 choices for Consumer Reports in term of vehicle accident safety. It is best to keep the car seat in the middle in case you get hit on either side of the vehicle.

Also, IMO a Bjorn is a MUST to keep the mom from going nuts! Sometimes it is nice to have 2 arms again and still know your little one is safe and close to you.

Graco's are good seats and cheaper than most. Yes any kind of wrap is a lifesaver for moms. We kept Toby in the middle as well but mostly because if he's behind someone they'll be sitting with there knees in the dash.

I have the same Graco snug ride w/ the stroller etc for my 2week old daughter. Theres child seat attachments for the left or right side not sure about the middle. X2 on the Bjorn child harness. Im a big dude but feel fine carrying my daughter in it. Not dorky at all like I thought it would be. Its also nice to be able to have both hands free.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with the Graco Snugride. The center position (yes, there are LATCH anchors there, at least on my 2002) is the safest and best place to put any child. If you get T-boned, you don't want the seat right next to the door. Plus it just fits better, the driver and passenger have more room.

We recently found out that we are having twins so middle postion wont be an option for both. Still trying to figure out if the Libby will continue to work for us. Does anyone know if the graco snug will fit in left and right spots with the front seats near the back of their tracks? If not does anyone know of any other options that might work?

As for side impact protection the Libby does really well, for front and rear occupants.

We use a Britax for my 2 year old. Its one of the best out there, look up the ratings, the price may be a bit high but safety is priceless.

by the way with the Britax you are not restricted to the middle of the KJ.

Just when you thought there couldn't possibly be an original question to ask....

but seriously, this is something we (wife & I) will have to address sometime this coming summer. Although odds are, our child won't be riding in the KJ much if at all. None the less, thanks for the heads-up regarding some of the better brand names.

We used a Graco seats as well. We had twins so they were on the sides not the middle but worked well. :)

Depends on where your wife likes to sit. If she prefers to sit in the front passenger seat then the only place a rear-facing child seat will fit is in the center. However if you put it on the right hand side, and you move the passenger front seat most of the way forward then your wife can sit in the back and be with the baby in case he/she wants a bottle or otherwise needs someone to play with.

x2 on that, worked great child #1 (now 18 months) and hopefully as great for child #2, due in March.

good luck with the x2, We also used the graco travel system, it worked great, best thing of all was you can take them in & out without disturbing them. We put it behind the passengers front seat, I didn't mind because I'm 6'3 and that meant I got to pilot the jeep 100% of the time.

*JUST MAKE SURE* you put some type of padding under the base to level it out & there should not be ANY wiggle in the base when the seat is attached. I found that if I laid on the seat while i tightened the stap down it got very snug. you can never be too safe with the little ones.

Thanks for all the tips. Now if I can only convince my wife that a new bumper and winch are safety features.

Yes its a RECARO! But seriously its comparable to Britax in safety and comfort minus $50-100 bucks! My daughter loves it and it lasts!!! 5-70lbs forward or rear facing

Honestly with a child seat the front seat needs to be pretty far forward, not comfortable for my 5'7" wife (we used a Eddie Bauer Carseat back facing and now a Summit forward facing)

With two seats on the go I am concerned you wont have any room in the front for the adults.

Really get a min van now and be happy..REALLY (we got a 06 Town and Country LX with 35K for 12K, it was worth the small monthly payment)

Im trying to find a convertible car seat for my daughter. I bought the Eddie Bauer deluxe 3 in 1 but it seems to be too big for the seat and hard to get a snug fit. Does anyone have suggestions on a good seat? She is under 20 pounds and 7 months old.
