So, what electronics are on your KJ? I have a satellite radio, gps, frs radio, my personal cell phone (gsm), and a emergency phone (cdma, for the times I don't have gsm coverage). I also have a sony cybershot that bounces around the back seat, unless it is a more planned trip, and then I have a camera bag loaded with my dslr and some equipment for that. I'm waiting for the right time to get a hand held CB, and a magnetic antenna to go with it (nice, portable, easy to hide). What do you guys have? PS, I will post some pictures of my gear tonight |

I used to have a really nice alpine deck in my car (before the jeep) with the ipod cable in the glove box (controled all through the deck) but I didn't take it out when I got rid of it. I have the cd changer in the Jeep, but I NEVER use it sadly, all I use is the satellite radio. I'de be tempted to put a new deck in, the same one probably, just so I can hard wire in a satellite radio AND so I can use my ipod again... but then I would loose my steering wheel controls, and I am not ready to do that! My phone is a HTC Touch, my satellite is the Sirius Startus, and my GPS is the Magellan Explorist 500 |

I have more networking gear in my KJ than the KJ is worth. LOL You never know when I am wheeling I may come across a broken server on the trail...... Neweest thig to get into my KJ is a rocket launcher for the next time the KJ breaks down. Gonna take aim dead center of the V6 |

For day -to-day life I have my Sirius radio and a couple of HAM radios (one does HF/CB and the other is a VHF/UHF dual-bander). When I'm ready to go out on the dirt I also take a couple of FRS radios, my Garmin V GPS and if I really think I'll need it my laptop with USAPhotomaps loaded on it to find trails or alternate routes. The VHF/UHF radio also has the ability to do APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) which among other things lets me hook up my GPS and sends out position reports that others can view online so they know where I am. Oh and my cell phone and a beater Samsung camera in the drivers door pocket, which I'll supplement with my DSLR |

I carry a sextant and an abacus. When I'm wheeling I bring along two empty tin cans and a big long string. My buddy has enough electronics in his truck to run the space shuttle. He just started using a service that writes emails from voice input. It's called Jott. It's not perfect, but pretty cool anyway. We took a road-trip in his truck recently and I realized at one point that the front seat looked like a Crutchfield catalog exploded. Crazy. I worked in the IT field for a little over 5 years. I love all the gadgets and toys and know how to use them, but I got overloaded. Now I'm minimizing. Back to the basics, ya know. |

aftermarket head unit (single cd/am/fm) and cell phone. That all. Want to upgrade my head unit with a auxiliary input so I can plug in my mp3 player (creative zen microphoto 8gb), but I have better things I want to spend my money on. |

Maglight in door pocket, cel phone, Swiss Army / Leatherman tool thing in the glovebox, Garmin 250W GPS when nobody is around to tell me where to go. Rubbermaid box in the back with spare oil, jumper cables and other assorted things and stuff I will probably never need but at least I know they are there. Oh yes, a fire extinguisher somewhere in the back. I really should mount that somewhere. |
