Man what a P.I.T.A it was to get my old AC comp out. It was easy to disassemble everything and to get the 3 bolts off the Comp. But damm, there was I guess build up on the cleats and when I finally got it to move, I swung it to the right and lifted it out then I heard a SNAP/CRACK. I said to my self that sounded like a $200.00 part. LOL When I removed the Comp, I saw sure enough a broken plastic sensor coming off the front of the manifold. I said oh yea, that is going to cost me. Went to the local auto store and they said it is an OEM only part. I grabbed my wallet tight and screamed NOOOOOOO! PLEASE HELP ME! So I drove to the dealer crying just to find out that that MAP sensor cost $149.00 BUT, my buddy was there and he said come back tomorrow morning and pick up your part and bring your old one with you. I walked out of there the next morning with a new part, and the same money in my wallet. YAHOOOOOO! Went home and reinstalled everything and good to go. Charged the system and (HOWEVER) When I drew a vacuum and then charged the system, my compound gages were good to go. When I took my line set off the access ports, YEP, I LOST THE WHOLE CHARGE! I never replaced my straighter valve on the HI side. I put it back in and just closed the hood and got DRUNK! That was fun. gotta do it again some day........... |

Turns out it was the pulley tensioner.Guess the compressor just put a lot of strain on the pulley system, because the noise would completely go away when turned off. Good job on replacement, that woulda cost the average joe. And a free MAP,man i hope that was some good imported beer-you deserve it. |

I am sure if I let the dealer do this I would have paid an easy $1,500. The beer was New Castle and Guiness. One the BEST for me! |
