| Post subject: | (help!) DEAD BATTERY b/c Rear Door unable to lock |
Has this ever happened to anyone else?? Any help would be greatly-appreciated.. My battery is completely dead and it's most likely because the rear door is unable to lock ..it keeps trying to lock itself every few seconds with a repeating 'click' sound thus wearing on the battery which caused it to die! I'm buying a new battery right now but I'm sure once installed it will continue to drain because of the lock situation |

It's not the lock getting stuck that's draining the battery. It's the battery not having enough charge left that's making the computers acting weird |

a poor ground somewhere can cause that to happen as well. mine was acutally on the negative battery post. so it kept trying to lock...until it died. |

Any day now, I think... Know what you mean yellowcoyote, my 04s at 107,000 plus with the stock battery, have a new red top on the way so when it does die, |

I just installed my handheld CB/cobra mag whip antenna a week or two ago which after the battery dying on me makes me wonder...how do you know if your CB is properly grounded? |

I just replaced my battery today. I had purchased a Duralast from Autozone in Dec. of '06 and it's already crapped out. Luckily I was within the two-year free replacement window so it cost me zip, but I am seriously considering an Optima (red or yellow) then I can throw this one in my mother's '05 to replace the stock battery on it. |

Batteries usually just gradually get weaker, until they're so weak they won't start the engine any more, but sometimes they fail suddenly. I think something inside breaks, corrodes or burns out, and suddenly the battery has barely enough juice to light the dome light. |
