I’m wanting to rotate all five of my tires. I have 4 heavy duty jack stands, but I need to know exactly where to place each jack stand to make sure everything is safe and secure. Also, where is the best location to place the floor jack on the front of the Jeep and the best location to place the floor jack at the rear for proper lifting? Thanks!

Towards the front of the unibody "framerail" you will see 2 notches(one on either side),that's where you want to put the front jackstands.I place the rear jack stands just in front of the rear control arm mounts.

I jack up the front, one side at a time, from the LCA's but make sure you get the jack placed real good under the LCA's.For the rear I just jack it up from the bottom of the diff pumpkin, raising the whole rear up at the same time.

These are the notches for the front jack stands.

Here is where you would place the jack stand at the rear of the Jeep (in front of the rear control arms)

And this is where you would place the floor jack by lifting one wheel at a time (at the flatest spot on the LCA's).

that place dieselenthusiast said to use on the rear works great but I also use the rear axle. If you use the frame it lets the wheels droop down so you need to lift it up more.

I must be old fashioned. I do a 5 tire rotation 1 tire at a time. Remove the spare, jack up right rear replace tire, lower jack and move on to next tire. I follow Terry's 5 tire pattern as well and can do the whole vehicle in about 30 minutes with the left front ending back up on the spare holder. Who needs jack stands anyway? ( Wife is buying me a set for my birthday, my choice!) 8)

We had the 5 tire rotation finished in approximately 25 min. By lifting the Jeep first, I removed the nuts and dismounted the tires while the wife rotated and mounted the tires. Then I went back behind her and tighten the lug nuts. We work as a team! The other day, I pulled the oil filter and she was right behind me putting the new filter on. She likes her Jeeps and she likes to learn basic maintenance. Today I taught her how to adjust the torque wrench to 95 foot lbs of torque and how it worked. Tomorrow we will rotate the tires on the Dodge and change the fuel filter. We are also going to a seminar on how to make biodiesel, so it’s nice to have her as a helper. But yes, I have to follow all safety precautions when working with her, that includes using JACK STANDS!

ThunderbirdJunkie, what’s wrong with using a small floor jack? It does what it needs to do, although a much lager jack would be safer and nicer. Once I build my home and shop, I plan to upgrade a few tools. 8)

If I am rotating I jack the front up ( jack under the engine skid) and put the front up on stands as per the above mentioned areas and then under the rear pumpkin and there you are , a few minutes and you are done!
