How can the $21.785 KK Cherokee/Liberty Ltd be the same price as a $34.420 Cadilac CTS over here in Europe?

They are both priced around $50.000 in the UK and this has nothing to do with tax either as our tax is 17.5% only and nothing more.

They are both made in the US by a US car maker, and they are both shipped to Europe by boat, but as soon as they arrive in the showroom the much cheaper KK is suddenly 60% more expensive and the same price as the Cadilac.

The KK Cherokee/Liberty is strangly priced anyway as it is only $3500 cheaper than the Landrover Discovery which a full size 4x4, state of the art and has a v6 TDI engine and is also the best in it's class.

That sucks and if I had to pay those prices I would be buying the Rover for sure.

Ah, since the landrover is the best in its class clearly the liberty is in another, better class.

the Discovery doesn't cost as much to build, I'm sure. And you also have to deal with it being a heap o' poop Rover

the CTS is probably the same price as the KK because of supply/demand. I'm willing to bet that Jeep doesn't sell as many Cherokees in the UK/Europe as Cadillac sells CTSs. Plus, the CTS is supposed to compete with the BMW 3 series globally, not just in the US.

That's what makes sense to me...your results may vary

I see you have never seen a Diso up close.

It's official now, $50.000 for a KJ Cherokee 2.8 CRD, I bet that sales will drop like a brick especially as the bottom dropped out the used 4x4 market and dealers don't want 4x4's as trade ins anymore.

Saw a 2 year Commander v8 for 30% of the new price and Grand Cherokees are also getting to that level even the diesels.

As soon as you drive your $50.000 KK out of the showroom it will be worth nearly half the money you just (over) paid,

priced into retirement, at least in your part of the world. Seems somebody doesn't want those sold there any more.

A left wing government (Gordon bloody Brown) and a left mouthed press (BBC= Browns Broadcasting Corporation) are pushing things the wrong way.
Road tax is going up by 230% for most 4x4's (retrospectively to cars sold from 2001), petrol/diesel is driven up by yearly tax increases to $10 a Gallon, purchase tax is up for new 4x4's and now they are going to introduce higher parking fees for 4x4's.

....and on top of that, Jeep is still trying sell us parts and cars for 200% above US prices.
