| Post subject: | Engine coolant question |
All, Good afternoon. I got a low coolant signal on my CRD yesterday and confirmed that the level was low. The coolant that is in the engine is "red" and I have some premixed "green" coolant - would it be ok to top it off with the green stuff? Thanks in advance. -Dr. Dave |

Ronnie Helmo wrote: All, The coolant in your KJ is HOAT(Hybrid Organic Acid Tech) coolant,it is best to put the same back in,Zerex makes the coolant you need and goes by the name of GO5 coolant(available at Napa).

Dexacool and universal coolants are OAT coolants(Oraginic Acid Tech) and does not mix with the "green" antifreese or HOAT coolants. "green" antifreeze = high silicate based HOAT coolant = low silicate based Dexacool/universal OAT coolants = no silicate based A cooling system designed to run silicate based coolants will be damaged by running OAT coolants. If need to be you can run the "green" antifreeze in your KJ but you will need to flush the cooling system much sooner then recommended. Just do not add Dexacool or any universal coolants to your radiator. |
