I've been eyeballing Sea Foam for a little while now. I'm giving it some consideration as part of the pre-winter maintenance. Sea-Foam says to use every 2000-5000 miles. I'm not so sure I feel comfortable using an additive that often. Has anybody had any bad experiences with this product?

works great several post on here about using it, I pour a bottle in the full gas tank every 25,000 or so and run it through and also have used it sucking it into the intake through the brake vac. hose with great results. Used it on Jeeps, Chevrolets, Fords etc with no ill results on any of them.

If you do it through the intake make sure you are outside though, great smoke show if you have never done it !!!!

1 bottle into gas tank

1/3 bottle into TB - with engine running suck seafoam through the vaccum hose running from the brake booster to the throttle body (the bigger one). The engine will want to die, have someone press the accelerator in the cab, until you suck 1/3 of the bottle.

1/3 bottle into oil - change oil before 200-400 miles

I think 2-5K is overkill, probably better 10-12k

I've used Sea Foam on bike engines with good results. But for the record, I prefer (and use) Amsoil Power Foam both at the dealership and in my private Harley engine work. I've never used Sea Foam in a car's gas engine.

To answer your question... yes to injectors. But just like Amsoil Power Foam, it is not for use on rubber hoses and such!

To find out more, Sea Foam.

I've used it in many vehicles, Ford F-150, GMC yukon, Dodge Durango, Chevy Avalanche, chevy silverado z71, 81 chevy scottsdale, and of course the vader KJ

All with very good results. Usually 1/3 in brake booster line, then the rest in the gas tank. About every 20K. very happy with no ill side-effects.

Filled the tank and added a bottle of SF. After knockingg out 1/4 tank today, the rough idle seems to gone...go figure. I have another can waiting for the intake and crank case. I'll run that through this weekend.

Just make sure that when you put the seafoam in the oil you change it within 100 miles.

Do you just add it to a full tank of gas, and for the crankcase just put it in where you put the oil in?

Yes on the gas tank, and no on the crankcase. You can add it to the oil, but like stated above you must change it within 100 miles of adding it.

the other way to get it in there is to slowly add it in through the brake booster line with the engine running then shutting off and letting sit 30-60 min. before restarting. This is the method that gives you the notorious smoke show.

Green was setting error codes for random cylinder misfires. GM has a TSB out that diagnoses it as sticking fuel injector poppets with the only solution being a rather expensive dealer procedure that involves running a solvent through the engine. I read up on Seafoam and gave it a shot. 1/3 of the bottle slowly poured into the intake, the rest dumped into the tank. After treatment I drove two miles to fill up the tank and when I restarted the engine the code had cleared itself. That was last April and the van has been fine ever since.
