If sales are slumping why make it the same as you other vehicles no one else wants? Jeep was making money the others were not. If the Grand can't sell, kill it, what's the point of stocking two models no one wants?
Yep. Badge engineering has killed Detroit. Is Chrysler trying to kill the only profitable lineup they have? All of their recent models are sales disasters, except for the Jeeps and perhaps the Challenger.
Caliber (much larger than Neon, worse mileage, and goofy looking. A Toyota Matrix wannabe.)
Journey (to where, New Jersey? )
Nitro (why not just by a real Jeep Liberty instead of this 4000 pound low rider gansta wannabe? Badge Engineering at it finest, er worst.)
New minivan (functional and good execution. But it is bland and out of style, not selling like the old glory days).
Sebring (This is so ugly that driving it would cause an owner with an IQ over room temperature to commit suicide. The last model was much better looking.)
Avenger (Why? What did I do to them to deserve this thing? Ok, it is not too bad, just not very good either. )
When all your new models are coming straight off the sales lot at 30% off sticker and free gas offers-- and most are going to fleet rental-- you are in serious trouble.
At least the Patriot is good in all weather and somewhat useful. I would say the same for the Compass, but it is ugly and I hate the looks of it. But... believe it or not these two vehicles have been selling. Even better for Chrysler, they are stealing CUV buyers from Japan. Many Patriot/Compass owners are first time Jeep buyers. That is good for Jeep. Maybe they are thinking they can Honda Pilotize the GC and boost market share even more?
