Took 'ole KJ too the stealership for a check up on a few things. 1) my driver side door lock is broken and is in-op. basically had to use the remote to unlock and lock the door. not good! so i had to get that fixed. luckily it was covered under my protection plan and only had to pay $100 deductible. Tranny in 4WD mode was making noise. The Stealership said they would run "diagnostics" on it to tell me what was wrong with it. The diagnostics fee was $114 but would be covered under warranty if there was something wrong with it. Greenbriar called me today and said there is nothing wrong with KJ's tranny according to the diagnostics. But they didn't do anything with the tranny and there would be another fee to actually LOOK at the tranny. So lame, I paid greenbriar $114 to drive KJ around in the grass in 4WD and they can't even tell me whats wrong with it. I told them to forget everything with the tranny and I am hoping a good flush will take care of the audible 4WD. such a headache, only had KJ for 3 months and all sorts of doo doo is going wrong with it already. 55K miles on it, 2003 |

What kind of noise is it making and when? Mine makes noise in 4lo when the tires spin although I don't think it's the tranny on mine I'm just curious what you're hearing. |

clicking in 4-HI. Almost like something is not lining up correctly or slipping. 4-HI AND 4-LO both work outstanding, just trying to get a grip on things before I do this suspension job... 4-hi is just noisy |

I would tell them I paid to have the issue diagnosed so they need to diagnose the problem or I wouldn't pay for it. I took my TJ in one time for a noise in 4lo. They came back and told me it was my pinion angle in the rear. I told them I was sure it was coming from the front drive shaft and that my pinion angle had been fine for the last year with out vibs. The next day I got my Jeep back with a new front drive shaft and no noises............................Really tell them to get it figured out. You didn't pay them to say everything is fine when you know its not. They need to buck up on this one. Oh and yours maybe from the t-case...driveshaft etc etc. doesn't sound like a tranny problem. |

The diagnostic charge seems normal for the dealers, but they usually back it out of the repair price once the find something. The dealer here in Ft Lauderdale is a total den of thieves, but even they are not that scummy. |

If the clicking noise is coming from up in front when you are in 4WD your CV(s) might be on the way out. Putting your KJ in 4WD puts them under more torque which can reveal if they are going. This is what happened when my CV's went. I had a clunking/tapping noise when in 4WD that changed frequency with the speed. John ];') |
