Hey Guys, Thank you for all of your help determining what to buy. I don't have pics yet but here are the stats... - 2005 - 4x4 (of course) - 66K - 1 owner (before my girlfriend) - $8,900 (my buddy is a dealer and took me to an auction) - Texas All of its life (no rust) I am excited!!! even though it is my girlfriends car. NOW... what accesories do we buy? What is the best bang for your buck that every liberty owner should have? I haven't researched what all have you have added to yours but I was just thinking I would get the thread started. Thanks again for all of your help, you will see me on here a great deal in the future ALSO... anyone that lives in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, let me know when you guys are going off roading. |

OME lift!! gain 3" plus a smooth nice handling ride! and if you plan on going off road then you need to make sure you have recovery pooints such as a rear hitch and front tow hooks and some skid plates help. and I like to add some good spot lights top help light up the road and plus they look good |

I would first do some PM work, plugs, PCV valve, air filter, check/change anti-freexe, oil, power steering fluid, and all the other lubes. I figure make sure all ok and in working order so when you do get to take it out, you dont get any suprises. But like they say if its gona break its gona break out there. Welcome to the club, happy wheeln. Bob |

It's dependent on your planned usage, but it sounds like you want to do some off-roading, so I'll assume that and say...purchase in these stages (unless finances afford the first three steps at one time): 1st step - Skids & rocker rails (armor) and recovery points. I can't express how essential this step is as a first step. 2nd step - Lift 3rd step - Tires (and wheels if desired) 4th step - everything else I'll add that, if you're not going to get the lift for a while, you might want to think about replacing the stock tires with a size that will fit under the unlifted KJ. You didn't say what model your 2005 was...I think the Renegade stock tires were okay. But the ones on the Sport and Limited models are junk. I toasted mine in short order and got some stock-size replacements until I put a lift on. If you have the Limited (gasser) 17" rims, I'd suggest getting some 16" rims off someone. There are a lot more tire options in the 16" size. Welcome to the forum!! |

Thanks to everyone so far! 1) PM... Good call, completely slipped my mind. 2) I dont' think the tires on this baby have ever been changed. So (other than #1) tires are the first stage, I would like to do a lift at the same time so that I can get cooler tires. --Can anyone advise me on what tires to get? Best bang for the buck? Please don't use tire jargon, I am completely lost when it comes to tires. engine, body, suspension, breaks... any of those mods I have done and understand, tires I am completely lost on though 3) Protection (skids rocker rails, etc) I am thinking more sand dune types of situations first, Later, Jeep Jamboriee and such. THank you once again everyone... I REALLY appreciate it. |

Tires...depends on what you are going to do with it mostly, make a plan of what YOU want to do with it not what others are telling you that you need to do because it works for them in wild west or Timbuctoo Good all around tire for cheaper price but runs great is a Fireston destination AT, also the Kumho KL78s are a good tire that you can get great mileage on the road but still go off road some as well. You can run 245-70X16s with no problems well almost none maybe a little rub but nothing much! Skids are always important of course |

Thank you ONCE AGAIN for your help... - I think I am going to go with the Firestone A/T's (unless anyone has any reason that I shouldn't) Question: I went to the OME site and I was wondering what the differences are between the setups that you can piece together. Also, why this lift? People here seem as though they swear by it. Do I need to order anything to set up the lift other than... - Front OME coil spring - KJ front for stock bumper - Front Trim Spacer - Front OME strut (difference between medium and HD?) - Rear OME coil spring (difference between medium and HD?) - Rear OME shock Thank you once again, Justin |

Something makes me want to write that the very first thing you should do is get your g/f's permission to mod her KJ. But I could be wrong... And don't forget to mount a MagLite (flashlight) to her driver's seat frame. Otherwise, what JJsKJ said. |

I would replace the lower ball joints with MOOG greasable LBJs. Also, after you get a lift get those stock a-arms off there and replace with Jeepin' By Al a-arms. |

In order of importance: 1. Chrome Diff Cover 2. Yosemite Sam air freshener 3. VentShades 4. Radar Detector 5. All the non-factory stickers you can find Of course, I'm just kidding. First thing I'd do is add tow hooks to the front and/or some kind of hitch or tow hook to the back. Recovery is key if you're going off road. If you aren't going off road and just want that lifted "look", well I guess you can start with a lift and tires. Don't mod the engine...performance chips, air intakes, performance mufflers...no. Spend your money on good quality tires and an appropriate sized, high quality lift kit like those that have been mentioned. Skid plates and rocker guards are nice but in my OPINION, shouldn't be first unless you plan on hitting the rubicon tomorrow. Others will disagree. There are lots of good ideas from the guys here, but do what you want to do man...it's all yours! Have fun. |
