I got a car (not the jeep) that won't start. lights turn on and the motor cranks over but it never starts? Could that be the starter or maybe the alternator, I was also thinking fuel pump?

Really depends on the conditions.

If it turns over and cranks the engine it's not the starter

If then engine cranks but there is no "ignition" than it could either be fuel realted or spark plug / electrical related.

Pull 1 spark plug and smell for fuel.

What kind of car? Year? Engine? Need some more info.

Okay – in the old days – the ‘motor cranks over’ was a good indicator the battery was okay –
However today the question is ‘does the battery have enough voltage to turn on the computer?’
–Probably need to measure the voltage to confirm. (especially significant if it's the original battery)

If you can get to a spark plug – you could pull it and smell for gas
You can also pull a plug wire – and hold it about ¼” from the plug and listen for the spark jumping the gap (be careful – the spark doesn't jump to you)

Also thought about this:

Does the vehilce have a transponder key? I had a Mustang that wouldn't start because the dealership forgot to program the key to the car. It would crank and crank and crank but never fire up.

Yeah, not fun getting jolted by 20,000 volts of electricity.

Well if it only has 12,000 volts going to the plugs it probally won't start, not enough juice, you need at least 20,000+ in today's modern fuel injection engines. The MSD Blaster 3 coil can put out over 80,000volts,not real fun getting hit by that.

Back to your car, check fuses/relays(mainly for the fuel pump) and check to see if the fuel pump is even turning on.If you have a fuel pressure tester that is the easiest way to test if your getting fuel pressure and the fuel pump is working($30 at most parts stores). If you got fuel pressure then go to spark, there are many ways to test for that, the easiest is to get a curent tester that when pressed against a plug wire will light up when currect passes through the wire($10 at most parts stores). If you have both fuel pressure and spark but it still will not start you may have a bad oil pressure sensor or a possible timing belt problem,or you could have a bad/faulty driver in the PCM and the timing is messed up.

My friend drop it off at the dealer and it turned out to be something electrical. some module or sensor for the fuel. Thanks.
