I walked outside to find my alarm going off and it wouldn't stop. I'm not even sure why it went off in the first place. It's just the factory alarm, the car has been bumped before when it was parked and it never went off so I've always thought it was an alarm that would only go off if a window was broken or the door was jimmied open or something that like.

Anyway, I used the key fob to lock the doors, unlock the doors and they worked but it didn't stop the alarm. I turned the car on and it started right up but the alarm kept going off. I finally just disconnected the battery and it stopped. When I connected it again everything was fine.

Any thoughts? I've heard this can happen if your battery is starting to go dead. While I haven't tested the battery the windows still go up and down fine and the lights are not dim or anything like that. I need to make sure this doesn't happen again b/c living in Brooklyn I can't always get a spot in front of my house so I won't know it's going off. When alarms go off like that for hours and hours someone will eventually through a brick in the window and remove the battery for me.

Try putting the key in the door and unlocking it next time. Seems to work on our truck when that happens.

I do but that wasn't pressed, I heard it going off as I was walking out of the my building and too far away for the remote to reach. I did get the battery tested yesterday and it was "good." So this weekend I'm going to check my wires as best I can to see if I have a short of a loose ground wire anywhere. Otherwise maybe the alarm is just going bad?
