Post subject:  help with choosing a muffler now

i see that most of you have the flowmaster muffler it is rather expensive but i saw one video of a kj with it and it sounds great are there any other cheaper ones out there but not so cheap that it compromises the sound because i love the sound of the flowmaster if you could post some videos of your muffler that would be great. if there is a cheaper one out there that sounds better let me know and if you have it please post a video
:D

Flo-Pro. It is a Flowmaster knock-off. I think I saw it on summit racing. You need 2.5 in/out.

I have a cheapo Xcelerator that I got at Midas, but it sounds very good. I get a lot of looks and comments on it. It cost me about $70 installed.

I cut and pasted a $20 Thrush Turbo II into the exhaust. Cheap, good sounding and easy to replace if damaged.

just get the cheap Thrush Turbo then. Should give you the sound you want.

i've used mine a lot as a skid plate and it is still in perfect condition. here's a video... it's not for sound purpose but you can still hear it. the wooshing air is my cold air intake not the exhaust :)

I'm going to add my .2 cents on this subject one last time - Of all the sound bites I've heard, this Flowmaster super 44 is the baddest sounding muffler out there. Which is why I want one too.

Very important - If you're into the import sound (where's that barfing smiley?), you don't want the Super 44 muffler.

my flowmaster 50 is a bit less raspy and deeper of a tone than the 44... however if the 44 diamond plate one was out when i bought mine that what i would have.

hahahahahhaha that barfing smiley is hilarious!

That vid cracks me up. First you hear the scrap of rubbing then the few tries to make it out on the driveway :D Good looking tires but I agree with Tom on that one about needing a football field to turn around :)

As for mufflers, I have a borla cat back and I like how it sounds. It is not super loud or anything like that and it is nothing like a lawn mower :). It just sounds a little mild and good.

hard for me to hear the difference between 50 and 44 series. That vid of the 50's series with 35" tires sounded good.

But how loud are those inside? I'd want NO increase in interior noise.

My last off road event finished off my muffler. It looks like Opey's old Coke can after being kicked down Main st in Mayberry for a year! And it's leaking pretty badly now.

My thought is to get a SMALLER muffler! Less prone to damage, no?

Can't I just buy any stock POS muffler that's smaller?

If I were you I'd look for a junker stock one. Otherwise I am sure there will be interior noise.
