I notice that a lot of you replace their OEM airbox with a cold air intake. I do realize that this inreases "breathability" for the engine and thus more power/inreased MPG, but is this really neccasary or is this more of a CRD issue with inlet temp. control? |

The CRD issue is that the stock airbox with a straight in tube - tends to collect water while driving in heavy rains - and so we replace the airbox with a stock v6 airbox - that has the airscoop up under the hood I wouldn't call that a cold air intake - the original CRD box is closer to that however some of the v6 guys looking for more power have gone to the aftermarket cold air boxes. they probably do increase power and they normally go to an oiled foam filter at the same time but those don't filter the air as well - and they will help your engine wearout faster. |

I would not say a lot have replaced the stock airbox, more like just a few overall Best to date for me after 4 different setups, including a CAI, is an Amsoil filter in the stock box with a 3 inch dryer vent hose from the grill back into the box |
