Need some help here. The manual says 5-20 oil? Okay thats no prolem with that weight in the US but I shipped mine overseas.
Lots of rice burners here not many Jeeps. I'm looking for an alternative weight for my Libby 4x4 sport.
The climate is Hot, Hot. Hot and tropical. Temps during the day average 85 year round.

Also can't find the coolant listed in the manual will regular Preston do the trick?

Suggestions and recommendations needed...Thankx....

5w-20 or 5w-30 oil will work for your engine. You must use HOAT coolant in your KJ or cooling system damage will occur,Zerex makes GO5 coolant which is HOAT.DO NOT USE any "universal" coolants like prestone, they are OAT coolants and DO NOT MIX with HOAT coolants and will cause damage. Our cooling systems are designed to use low silicate based coolants(HOAT),those universal coolants and Dexacool are silicate-free coolants(OAT).If needed and can not find HOAT coolant it is best to use the older green coolant(ethylene glycol) antifreeze,it is a high silicate based coolant and is better then running non-silicate coolants(OAT's),you just need to flush the green stuff at least once a year or damage will occur.

For hotter climates, 10W30 will be better than 5W30.

Not anymore since a good synthetic 5w-20/5w-30 oil will protect better in hot weather then 10w-30 will and your engine will run better, plus you got to think about warrenty if you still have it.

Post subject:  No 5- anything

There are no 5- weight oils availale. Okay there is one called "Amalie" or something like that. Amalie of Pennsylvania, it looks like the oil you might buy at the dollar store. They sell Semi Synth and want 6.66 per Quart.

As for the Anti-Freeze that could be a problem. I have been looking for HOAT but its not looking good. I seriously doubt they will let me carry that on a plane. But thanks for the tip. I was getting desperate.
Not too fond of the idea of having to change it every summer.

See if I can trick someone into importing it.

Antifreeze is non flammable but is toxic. As such you can not carry it through a checkpoint in the US. You could try putting it into your checked bags and hoping the machines do not alarm on it. If they do, because of the density, it will be removed and disposed of. If it doesn't alarm, you're good to go. You could try flying out of an airport that does hand bag checking instead of using the machines as they do not open every single bag with hand searching but again you are playing the odds.

Yeah, we don't want to hear about that on the news...."Man got caught with Antifreeze on Plane."

I would just do a complete and thorough flush....block and all....and use whatever antifreeze you have easily available. Make sure you get all the old HOAT out of there. Keep on flushing with water, until only clear water comes out. Use a Prestone Flush-n-Fill kit.

Post subject:  How to change the oil in a Libby

In the modern age of technology you can find anything.
The URL of the Liberty Oil change has been corrected.

Now I would like to see one with a hot chick doing an oil change.

Oh and who had the bright idea to shove the filter up there? DUh.... Does Chrysler have a magic oil filter reaching wrench?
