I miss my DMAX, so I was toying with the idea of a swap. I like the front end on my 02 better than the newer KJ's so not really interested in an 05-06. |

you'd need the motor... and about everything in the engine bay... and computer.. you'd be better off finding a totaled CRD and just using it as a doner KJ. you'd need stiffer suspension.. engine mounts. cross members? hahah i thought about it too but then i figured it would be too much work and $. |

I think dieselenthusiast had gone far enough on this idea to buy and engine and some parts - although progress stalled haven't seen any updates for a long time also DieselToyz (he has a shop) - has a CRD running in a Toyota - (I think a 4 Runner) The computer makes a difficult engine swap harder - but it has been done. |

Yes, I have the motor, all the wiring, and all the computers to do the swap. I was going to do a swap into a 4 door Wrangler and decided to go with the European 2.8 since it will bolt right in and everything will be a factory fit. Todd at dieseltoyz will be in Germany during November for (3 weeks) to pull out diesel engines, parts, and ship back to the states. If you are interested, I would sell you the complete motor, all the wiring, and computers for your KJ swap for $3,000 dollars. The motor has been completely gone through and ready to drop into a KJ. (Seriously, it’s like a brand new motor with all news seals, gaskets, etc.) The install wouldn’t be that difficult as you would be unbolting and bolting factory parts into your KJ. I keep thinking I am going to keep it for a KJ swap, but my funds will be strapped and delayed for a while as I’m working on my wife’s 4 door Wrangler swap at the moment. I would part with the motor and take payments if necessary.

Thanks for the replies. I will strongly consider the offer for the engine. That is a great deal. I have had no luck with finding a wrecked CRD in my area or even close. |
