So I have been riding around with a blown front right speaker for a WHILE now and have decided to get a new set. I know that the speaker has an amp attached to it and it has its own lil special plug that goes into that speaker amp. If I wanted to get new speakers (Polk audio) would I have to get new wiring or would that plug still work on the new speakers?

you know im not quite sure that the plug would work with the Polks. you might have to splice the wires from the factory's to the new ones. and the deal with the amp attatched to the factory speaker i dont think exsists. well not on mine at least. i have all kenwoods and asked the same questiona bout the plug to an installer at best buy, and they dont come with it, your just gonna have to splice them together using butt connectors.

No, just clip the wires as close to the plug as possible and put some speaker clips on it and you will be good to go. The polks are going to sound much better if you push 80-90 watts to them though, just an FYI.

Yea I thought I would have to splice my wires. But at the most would I have to rewire my system?

If your Jeep has the premium sound system then yes, you WILL have an amp on the front door speakers. I am not sure if you can remove the amp and wire it to the new speakers or not.

The amp may also serve as a cross-over for the tweeters in the dash and if it does, you will need a set of component speakers+tweeters with a cross-over to split the highs and mids. If you want it to sound good you will also need a 4 channel amp to power the components and the speakers in the rear doors.

Main reason Ive not replaced my front speakers... :)
