We always go back and forth on air filters and which are better than others. What about oil filters? Are the all alike? If some are better...why? |

Stay far away from Fram. Best three are Napa Gold filters (NAPA), Purolator PUREONE filters (Advance Auto) or Wix fiters (Auto Value). |

After one knuckly busting oil filter change, you'll discover why having a 1" nut on the end is so important.

![]() Thats great if you don't care about filtration. Wix filters filter much better than K&N, same with their air filters. |

www.Bobistheoilguy.com Sort through all the info on that site and forums. Then make up your mind. Most sites you will only get opinions. Some will be based on some facts and others will only be based on heresay. My personal list (for teh KJ) based on research on BITOG and Independant lab testing from Amsoil is: Amsoil Ea series for longer drain interval use and just great overall filtering ability. Wix for 5-7K mile use. In a pinch I'd use a Mobil or K&N oil filter and not worry about it. |

I have my favorites, but it's more of a family thing. When my father taught me to change oil, we always got x brand of filter. I still use them today. I was thinking about previous air filter conversations and didn't recall a good oil filter conversation for a long time. I've been recently considering KN just for the previously mentioned bolt. Anyone using BOSCH filters? |

I haven't used a BOSCH filter, but from the link I posted in my previous post, they seem to be good. |

That's what she said! I put Bosch filters on. no real reason, just makes me feel warm and fuzzy to have one on there. I don't really think it matters much, TBH...I've had 250k mile engines that had run Frams all their life. |

Due to the positioning of the filter on the 3.7, I don't think that the anti drain back valve is as important as on a vehicle that has the filters upside down. Therefore, cheap filters(orange) will not be so bad as long as you do frequent changes. I like the wix, which is the same as the napa gold and are top rated. I also put a strong magnet on the side of the filter to help catch metal particles. This is unproven, but what the hey.... |

I use k&n or mobile 1. I also use a pivoting oil filter wrench which fits perfectly from the lower right front w/skid. |

use Mobile 1 but have to admit used a bunch of those orange filters for years and everything I have owned went up into the 250,000/275,000 before I sold them and no problems what so ever, of course I am anal about changing oil often |

I use the "stay away from Fram" Fram oil filter. I like the black hand grip stuff they have on the end as well. I have on occasion used Purolator. |

Fram is what I've used since I was 16. I was thinking maybe Bosch for a change. I'm a huge fan of Bosch products...plugs, wipers, etc. The Bosch Icon wipers are freakin great. I often go by the "If it isn't broke..." theory and Fram would probably still work out. I'm just looking for an upgrade. |
