| Post subject: | frozen windows? |
I'm sure other people have had this problem, any one have a good solution? Today I got in the Jeep, went to roll the window down a crack, and found out that all of them had frozen in the "up" position. Is there a way to keep this from happening in the future? Thanks! |

This happens to my KJ occasionally too. I don't know of any fixes except let it defrost. Usually only takes mine a few minutes after the vehicle has warmed up. Definitely don't want to snap the ice seal by powering the windows down.... |

So besides just waiting patiently for the window to thaw out, there's nothing I can spray in the window tracks that will prevent the freeze? I thought that maybe there was something I could do (similar to applying a silicone to rubber trim in the doors). |

And people wonder why their regulators break |

Never had a regulator break, and it's the first time the windows have frozen like that. I'm just trying to figure out if there's "preventative maintenance" for the frozen windows (and additionally prevent any undo wear and tear on the regulators). |

Mine will freeze as well... I point the drivers heater vent as far left and "up" as possible while on the way into work. Seems to do the trick most of the time and if it's not thawed out, I'll just open the door. |

If you trying to clean your windows by rolling down the windows, don't do that!! Eventually, it will cause a lot of problems, like killing your power windows motor. |

I put the sailboat in the garage which forces the KJ out into the cold... But heck, it's a Jeep and it can not be bothered with a little froozen window. |

Try using Silicon spray, I usually spray it on the rubber door gaskets and the window slides ( The U shaped channel the window slides in). Good luck, |

Lesson #1, Patience is a virtue. Lesson #2, defrost those windows while heating up the KJ in the morning before attempting to lower the windows. Especially power windows! Mine were frozen this morning too. It only took maybe 5 minutes to defrost them. |
