They are made of plastic so paint should stay flexible ( somewhat ).

No...I don't like bedliner...

Any paint specialist out there? :D

If you can get a hold of some Krylon "fusion" it's especially made for plastic. I will be using it to paint the wife's plastic fenders/bumpers in the spring. I think Rustoleum makes a plastic paint too. Not sure what you will have acces to in Spain.

Remove or tape off flares

Clean thoroughly with TSP

Apply an Adhesion Promoter (I didn't do this step when I painted mine, but its better if you do)

Paint with DupliColor Bumper Paint or Krylon Fusion Plastic Paint

Apply a clear coat if you want better protection

just be sure to get all the chemicals and such off the surface and you'll be good. adhesion promoter is a good idea too, as was mentioned. you can also lightly flame treat the surface of the plastic. this will prep it better then any cleaner can, but you have to have a light touch. use a propane torch and lightly hit the surface. the surface of the plastic will be dull and not feel as slippery as before. this burns all the crap off the surface leaving you with a pure plastic surface for the paint to adhere to. obviously, you would have to take all the parts off of the jeep to do this. you will screw up the surrounding paint otherwise.

Thanks for all the help guys, I am thinking of painting all the flairs and bumpers black since they are getting ugly, after 6 years of baking in the Spanish sunshine the rears are even starting to turn sorta white.

if yours are raw plastic.. PPG sells a raw plastic prep kit. if you plan to spray them.. and use PPG products you wont have to sand any of the raw plastic pieces just use the prep kit (whips on/of and clean with sponge with special solution in it) .. then use PPG sealer/base/clear and you'll NEVER have a problem

however this route is probably more expensive than others listed above.. still another option to think about... and if your going to line up and spray all your flares, bumpers, rockers.. whatever is raw plastic it would save you a lot of time... and you wont be able to see sand marks through your textured plastic once painted. it also allows for a perfect paint match to your body.. something you wont get in a rattle can unless it's black (that's the beauty of black cars ... nothing you cant touch up with a rattle can or sharpie :))

be careful touching up anything with sharpies. as far as blacks go, they're very very red

Actually, that would be called "plum" The addition of Alkali blue pigment makes black look "more black" or "jet".
Sorry, ....I work in the pigment industry :D
I hate the factory gray on anything, makes it look so cheap. I had a gray trim around my old astro, taped it all off and painted black...looked sooo much better.
I used "bumper black" which was a flexible satin black on that.
