If you've replaced this, here's a couple questions.

The oil light has flickered on briefly on several occasions. Likely it's the sender switch.

1. Does the new one look like the picture below ? THis picture happens to be from Standard Motor Products., but looks like NAPA's picture, etc. The reason I ask is because all the catalogs describe it as a sender "with gauge." Of course there is an idiot light, not a gauge. Immaterial ?

2. What fits on it to remove it ? Socket size ? Does a deep socket fit over it ? I'd go ahead and get the new one and see what it will need except for my uncertainty above about if it is the right part or not.

3. Do you know what threads it has ? One source called it a 1/8 NPT, another a metric M10. If it's a 1/8 I can hook up a mechanical gauge while i have it out, to see what the actual pressure is . If it's metric I'll need a different adapter.

4. If I get these answers, I'll decide what switch to get. If it's not clear, I may just go with a dealer part.

Thanks,

Never replaced one. What year KJ? How many miles on it? What weight oil are you using?

First thing to check is the idle on the tach. It should be around 650 at normal operating temp. That is barely enough to get adequite oil pressure at idle. If it goes/fluctuates lower than that, that is why your light is flickering and when you give it a little gas and get the rpm a little above that it stops flickering. Check it out good first before throwing parts at it.

Just a thought.
