I broke the head off one of the bolts while installing my t-case skid last night and I went and bought all 8 new bolts since they were all rusty, and Im going to have to drop the cross member and I was wondering if I can just put a scissors jack under the transmission to support it so I can remove the cross member.

and Where is a good spot to put the jack to support the transmission and transfer case? is that all I need to do is support transmission and transfer case and remove that one bolt, to remove the cross member?

got two jacks ? Put a 2X 6 or 2X8 under the pan and jack up against the pan the wider the better, still would not be a bad idea to also have one under the transfer case as well since that a lot of weight hanging back there, are you taking the cross member all the way out or just replacing the bolts?

Im gonna have to completely remove it b/c I broke off the bolt head of one of the bolts and I need to get the rest of the bolt out, then Ill re-install it with new bolts.

which by the way the dealership charges an arm and a leg for, I had to pay $36 for 8 bolts

Use a piece of plywood that covers the entire bottom of the transmission case and place the scissor jack underneath it. :D

Tom, so I need to remove the trans skid and use the jack with some 2x12 under the transmission pan? will the transmission pan hold the weight with out denting or something bad happening to it?

If you are going to keep the transmision pan on then you need to get the widest thickest piece of wood you can between the pan and the skid, then you can jack on the skid or put another piece of wood between the jack and bottom of the skid
