Not a cheap venture, the best way I know of is to get an alarm... I personally have a Python 700(MSRP 349.99 + extra motion sensor), you can get an additional addon module that will use microwave/radar to determine if something/someone is inside your vehicle. Check out www.directed.com for a listing of posibilities. hope this helps. |

I believe he's talking about the Mopar add-on sensor for the factory alarm. |

I didnt know Mopar had an add-on sensor for the interoir. Although I do believe they have a shock sensor. |

i wish this would get cleared up. I believe the mopar sensor is a motion sensor, kind of like one on a security system in a home. I do not know if its a shock sensor also. I know it cost $130 and thats way to much for something like that. |

It senses motion, such as the car being towed, and glass breakage. It isn't designed to sense someone moving around inside, but then it should already be going off long before someone actually gets in. For my money, it was well worth $130. But then, perhaps you have to have $5K worth of stuff stolen because the factory systems don't sense glass breakage to appreciate that. The way it works is you hook it up to power and ground, and then to the rear gate sensor wire. If it senses motion or glass breakage, it shorts the rear gate sensor to trip the alarm and anti-theft system. BTW, I think the same basic sensor is similar for Ford and Chrysler. I had a Ford dealer tell my daughter it was a $500 add-on that was already installed, and they would have to uninstall it. When I told them exactly what it does and how much it really costs, that conversation ended. |

we have a motion sensor in our TJ since it's a convertible. they put it under the e-brake so it has a better "view" of the front seats. but if you reach in and take something out of the back, even without opening the tailgate, the alarm chirps. sometimes heavy duty vibration will make it chirp too, like low heliocopters, the garage door going up and down and the like. i don't think they're as important in a solid roof vehicle unless you love to leave the windows rolled down. ours was installed aftermarket at best buy. |

I have an '06 Liberty Sport Special Edition, it came with remote keyless entry. Does anyone know what I need to buy to upgrade it to an Alarm? I have seen a couple things online, from Mopar.com I saw EVS I - Vehicles with Keyless Entry and from Jeepparts.cc/catalog I saw the following: EVS II Plus System Wiring Packages; EVS II Plus Security System; Interior Theft Sensor (IT-s). I would like to keep the remote built into my key as the only transmitter, so I know I have to use one of these systems, I am just not sure which one I need. Can anyone assist with this, the Dealer is trying to sell me the package for $400. |

Aight, so boxhead, if i have the base security system, which i do, can i buy this $130 sensor and wire it in like you did? Or do i have to have a different security system other than what comes stock on the libby? |
