Post subject:  front right wheel...

I have been feeling a shimmy when I go down the road and I hear a knocking some of the time not always, I think it might be the wheel bearings, but last night while it was raining as I was breaking the breaks felt like they were grabbing on that side more and shuttered when doing so. Think you guys can give me some info, I know TJ will know so insights to this, he seems to know ALL about the kj and etc... Thanks in advanced, Ryan

Jack it up and check the bearings. Take the tire off and check out the pads. Its a good start.

How many miles do you have on the brake pads? Could just be getting worn on that one first. Mine does the same thing. I'm at 42K miles on the original pads. Yeah, that's one other thing that I hope to have done this month. Just Empty Every Pocket... twice when you own two, 3x for 3, etc...

constant vibrations and a rubbing metal sound. the vibrations would not be intermittent. i'm going to have to go with nightdrv's synopsis of it sounding like a stuck caliper.

Bad wheel bearings: A loud humming sound. Screeching sound, if they're dry. You would notice the noise changing pitch as you turned left or right, or at different speeds.

Fastest way to check for a bad wheel bearing: Jack up that side of the car, and (using both hands, 12oclock and 6oclock) try to shake the wheel. If it wiggles, bad bearing.
