| Post subject: | Who has Thule Cross rails? |
I've got a cross country trip coming up this year in the Liberty and need to stow some sailing gear on the roof of my KJ. I thought I'd pickup a set of the MOPAR cross rails to mount equipment to, but it seems like I've missed the boat on availability for them. So now I'm considering purchasing a set from Thule (since that's where I'll be getting my luggage box as well.) So, who has them and what do you think? Is there a better solution out there for roof mounted cargo? |

I have the aero thule bars and I like it very much, it has keys and a rail inside the bar to attach accesories so no one can steal the accesories, I build a fishing rod carrier and works like a charm with the aero bars!! |

If I’m not mistaken I believe you can mount the Thule cargo carriers on Yakima bars as well. Just throwing it out their that you might be able to go with Yakima. |

I have Thule cross rails. They are awesome, excellent warrenty, and NEVER had a problem with ANY Thule product. Most any brand of carrier / bike rack will fit a Thule bar. Super easy to install too ! I went with the wider ones, because sometime I end up bringing too much stuff...

got a set of Thules and moved them to the wifes KJ. made too much noise on the highway. I suppose the fairing would have helped. Yakimas might be better for noise too as they are round instead of square. Now I have the OEM crossbars and no noise at all. |

When I was installing the bars, instructions for wind noise talk about the separate more the bars, I didn't get any noise as the aero bars are round too. |

I needed a fairing. It was noisy. |

I'm curious about the noise issue. I've got a factory sunroof so noise will be more noticable. Did the fairing cut down on the turbulence? |

I've got the factory sunroof also, When that was open was when the noise was most noticable. |

I guess it's up to me to say I've had both. Yakima and Thule. And both, make a hell of a loud HUMMMMMMMMM. Yes, you need a fairing. Either make your own, or buy one from the company (whichever you bought your bars from). Plus, it helps on drag, which helps mpg. It's not too much a matter of bar shape (minus a wing-shaped bar, which would be great)... it's more a matter of space between the bar, and the roof. I am currently (and probably always will) sticking with the new Thule aero bars. They're strong, and easy to use. The square taper helps with alot issues of accessories. If anyone wants, I have a full set of feet and bars by Yakima. SUV length. Also have Thule Velo-Vise holders and wheel holders that can go with it. |

I'm pretty sure I'll do the Thule areo bars and the fairing. Thanks for all the advice. |
