| Post subject: | gear ratios? |
so, i can't get any help with this over at jeepforum.. but ANY answers would be amazing.. i'm just gonna copy my two posts.. thanks could someone help me with a problem i'm having? my jeep wont shift out of second gear. [limp mode?] this happened very suddenly, out of a clear blue sky, while i was driving... i'm praying it is the input/output speed sensors.. i pulled codes for incorrect gear ratio -3rd gear incorrect gear ratio -4th gear. part numbers for these sensors anyone?? similar problems? IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE IN LIMP MODE??? [in order to bring to a shop without towing it] ... i drove it to the shop today. they are probably busy, so wont get around to it till next week... anybody? suggestions, comments.. you think ill need a rebuilt tranny, or is this another case of solenoid/speed sensor failure? |

This is from an 06 KJ Parts book but it might be the same number for earlier model KJs, but here it goes, Transmission output speed sensor P/N: 52584001AA Transmission input speed sensor P/N: 04799061AB |

Sounds like you blew the side plate off the valve body in the trans,or the solenoid pack went south. |

It's probably best to let the professionals diagnose this problem by actually taking it to the dealer or your mechanic so that they can physically inspect the transmission to see what went south. Not saying that we can't help you on the board here, but if the transmission is in limp mode, it needs immediate attention and poking around at it with parts that might or might not fix the problem could make matters worse. |
