Is there anyway to stop that rattling noise coming from the back.... i believe it is the rear window making the noise becuase it makes like the vibrating squeaky like noise. Anyway to stop it???

Thanks. :D

check your rear seat belt buckles, try putting a rubber band tightly between the two that are next to each other and see if it stops. I had the same issue and thought it was the rear glass, but it was the buckles.

I've got that rattle too, it comes from inside the door. Something is a wrong. Ya have to take off the rear door panel to get at. I just make the stereo louder and wait for it to fall off.

Check the bump stop for the latch on the gate. The hard plastic seal along the top of the glass can make some noises too, I keep mine coated in silicone grease.

The mount for the spare tire on the inside of the door can also work its way loose and rattle. Some time back a guy took the interior plastic off and welded the thing on the inside of the gate.

I adjust the catch on the inside of the door that it latches too and it stopped the rattle. Basically it just wasn't pulled tight when shut and had some play in the door.

howd you adjust the latch? I need to try that.

You might need a torx #20 or a wrench, can't remember
which, loosen it pull it out the the max tighten ,but not to the
max, close the tail gate, open tighten, as required.
Stealership Tech showed me.. Took about three try's.
Then once I was home a couple more times...during the
week..
Funny reading that in here...actally went off roading
and the interior light kept coming on, then that was the
trip to the stealership..adjusted the door catch thingy.

I just keep mine sprayed with WD-40 when I hear the racket start up again. It works every time. Spray it on the hinges and the latch, and everything else that might sustain some sort of friction

I wonder if I need to do that. Referring to the adjustment procedure. My latch won't always catch the first time when closing the glass. I have to play with the electronic key thingy then the glass will eventually catch (closed). I'm afraid one day I may break the glass. I've also noticed (occasionally, not always) my overhead front reading lamps will flicker. Of course there are also sometimes when I think the glass is secure and I go to pull away, the Rear Window warning will appear on the dash. So I have to get out and close the glass again.

Its the tail gate, I'm sure of it, I had that very
same problem...hence the stealership trip,fixxed
the problem then, and has not happened since..

and don't forget the tire carrier can be making that squeeking noise that everyone hates

Dude your making me laugh over here...
Thats not it, if your tire carrier is making any
noise you should go back there and tighten the
lug nut's....oh ya you need a lug wrench...hehe

The tire carrier can inteed make that noise. It's the carrier itself, and not the tire and lugs. lube and tighten the carrier

no man, my door skin tore, look

Image

that little dang tear makes the worst noise. my wife thought it was the hinges on the window. then she thought it was the door. i went back and looked and all that stuff was tight. then i thought about it and the dang spare would really wiggle around when i closed the door, it is a 255/70/16, not hte stock one. so i took off all hte spare mounting equipment and really looked around the mount bolts and found this on the bottom passenger side.

see, i'm not playing. :D

Well there you go, more to that story, can't fix or
help fix if things are left out.
And as far as the tire carrier making noise, don't make
sence, since it is supposed to be tight. Why lube
sumthin thats to be tight, just don't make sence.
Being a steel worker and all, putting things together
with nuts and bolts, its not to move. So in other words
cause the tires are tightened to the wheel stud they make
noise? Don't make sence to me sorry..

Do not remember if it was here or on jeepkj anyway it seemed to work,I have a spare tailgate if anybody wants to practice.

Take off the back panel to expose the additional metal mounts that hold the tire carrier on. That's where the squeeking comes from. I loosened mine, sprayed rubberized bedliner behind it, snugged it down .... no more noise!

To see what I'm talking about... open your tailgate or leave it closed for that matter and hit your spare tire near the top, you will hear the "rattle/noise/squeek/etc..."

Hope this helps.

Y'know sometimes the rear shock bushings can squeak too.
