I notice that the trailer speckled with black stuff in the rear view. I pull off I80 near Grand Island NE to get fuel and see every thing is just coated. I look underneath and everything is coated. The oil filter is completely black and dripping. This pretty much sux.

So is it the oil filter leaking or is that just where it's running to/dripping from?

Even lamer!!

Turbo oil hoses would be my first guess.... need any pics from the service manual to help trace it?

Sorry to hear it JL, it’s not the most convenient time for this to happen………… Hopefully it's just the hoses.

I found a NAPA and bought 4qts of 0W40and poured one in. It was low. Hopefully I can make it. Having the trailer attach limits my choices.

if the Turbo hose blows - you won't be able to tow anything -
make sure you have lots of duct tape.

I made it to Cheyenne, WY which is about 300+ miles NW of where I was when I started this thread. I had to put another 1/2 quart about 100 miles ago.
I had a blown CAC hose which was on the other side two months ago. There was a bit of oil with that but nothing like this. The Uhaul people are going to be pissed when they see this trailer.

I should get to UT tomorrow afternoon and will loose the trailer Thursday AM. I will bring my Jeep to the dealer in Sandy which was the only competent dealer I have dealt with. They are one of my favorite things about the Rockies.

There does not seem to be any loss of power associated with this problem.

All of this black stuff should be INSIDE my engine!

If you look closely, you can see the negative pattern of my RL rear bumper on the front of the trailer.

Holy Crap...

I pity the Uhaul guy (or gal) that gets to clean that puppy.

I plan to hose it down at the carwash in the old neighborhood tonight before I return it tomorrow.

If the trailer looks like that ...whats the undercarriage of the poor KJ look like? No need for any type of undercoating

Tom, when I stop, oil rains down from every skid plate.
I made it to Draper, UT with one of the 4 quarts I bought left. I will need to dump that into the engine tomorrow. After the trailer is unloaded, it's straight to the dealer who won't have parts and I will have to get a rental.

Well at least you made it there and can have a place to hang out instead of along side the road somewhere. So you have a good dealer to go to there where you are?

I have been crossing my fingers for you to make it! Way to go!!
