hi all,
2 months ago a paid off my jeep

, just got the title

, and this morning i go outside to check my fluid levels,and i find antifreeze in the oil :evil:

its an 05 sport, i know i have the 7/70 warranty but if they put new head gaskest on how long will it really last??? need some opinions!! or should i change the oil and try to trade it in on a new libby???

well the stealership tested my heads and intake and said they cant find any leaks. but they did find water in my oil,i just changed it last week and its all milky.i used castro gtx 5w-30.so im not sure what is happen!

Have 'em fix it and run the dogshit out of it!

I mean, seriously...Why would you trade it in if it's paid off?

Just like divorces...it's cheaper to keep 'er;)

Even if you had to pay for it, the cost of replacement is far less than buying new and having payments again. There's nothing better than a paid-for vehicle.

Yup, a head gasket on a 3.7 KJ is maybe equal to 3 payments on a new Jeep

And it's not something that goes away

Has the Jeep ever overheated?

Maybe it's just a cracked intake? (to be honest, not totally sure where the coolant goes INTO the engine...perhaps ThunderbirdJunkie should look at that...)

as long as you didn't over heat the engine and warp the head or deck, a head gasket is way cheaper then a new car....

Yep having both headgaskets replaced and the heads checked out will run about $2000-$2800,still cheaper than a new car.Get it done ASAP so you don't fry the bearings since your engine bearings worst nightmare is antifreeze.

its not possible to do the work yourself? 2k-2800 is a lot of moola for something that any of us ought to be able to do. it cannot be any harder then doing any other car

Have you messed with a SOHC cam V-6 with 3 timing chains? If not it's not easy to remove those heads without special tools to keep the chains in place.

i have not messed with this particular engine but i have done the mitsubishi engines with the 4 timing belts. also some others that have a more hten one.

i didn't mean to insult anyone and have started another thread which has been answered about odd questions. excuse me if my question came off as rude because it was not intended to be that way. it is very hard to ask a sincere question not being face to face with someone. everything comes off as rude over the net since their is no body language or facial expression to help communicate what is being asked

I'd attempt it myself.

Heck, you can get a used motor with low milage cheaper than that.

nah dude you're good! i don't think anyone misunderstood your intentions, best way to get the answers ya want is by asking directly, for alot of us, dealin with the timing chains is enough to make us not want to deal with it
