I wish that this swap would come to pass. The 8.25 is used in some failry heavy trucks. People will point out that they do break, usually half-shafts, when pushed hard but that is under a heavier vehicle. They may not be ideal for a 3/4 ton truck, but for a KJ? |

Not sure I would use something out of a chevy in my Jeep. It is, you know, a chevy. Yea, sure, it would be great to swap something in but it would take a lot of fab work.. Which is something no one has tried yet. They would rather throw a SFA at it and be done with it. |

I don't mind my Chevy D60 or my Chevy D70HD I am a bit disappointed about the very high lift that a SFA KJ requires to run a fairly small tire especially on the narrower axles sets. Something to replace the D30a would enable you to run almost as big a tire without getting so high, it seems. Just thinking out loud, more or less. |

Probably require as much time and money to get it to work as a solid axle conversion. |

No lockers or LSD's for the GM's front IFS diffs, they are still alloy, and be prepared to do output seals often.Oh and the gears are about $350 for those GM IFS diffs also. |

Learning how to drive will save your front diff,I never broke my front diff and wheeled the snot out of my KJ,no collar either and lifted a front tire often. |

I don't think that Toy is really a huge improvement. Remember, most of the time the majority of those set-ups are only dealing with 1/2 the HP most vehicles put out and in a lighter rig, at that. The higher out-put vehicles have a different center section, IIRC, and they are harder to come by. At least there are lockers available, though. Maybe if you did not run their birfield set-up? The best bet would be a center section that is readily available in any boneyard, with aftermarket support, and cheap. I am going to click my heels together three times..... |

The naysayers will jump right in with a lot of negative comments. Far be it for anyone to try and think new thoughts around here. I say...go for it! Check it out. It may not work but take a look and see what it looks like. Terry |

I would have no idea if they would fit, most likely doubt it, but remember, the IFS frontend from GM are pushing 5-8000# vehicles around regularly. Do they have weak points, most assuredly, but I would imagine they are slightly stronger than the ones designed for the KJ's just due to the extra weight. TJKJ may know more from his experiences, I'm just a shadetree, but my Tahoe tips the scale at around 7000#s and mine holds up just fine, no outer seal leaks either going on 120k. Lack of lockers is a drawback too |

While many no doubt have issues, my oldest brother has an IFS k2500 farm truck with over 200K on it and has had no driveline issues. |
