you are going to have some drag if you have it locked in going around corners , are you keeping it locked in all the time like on dry roads or ?? Need some more info

Ya sorry more info yup, well i understand you will get drag on dry pavement

But this drag is bad enough that it feels like the brakes are on. I could be doing 10-15mph and it will bring me to a comlete stop pretty quickly also the noise coming into the cab from it is loud enough that people turn to see what the heck is going on. Sounds like something is binding or rubbing

Do you have part-time? If so, then that's exactly what you'd expect to happen. You don't drive in part-time 4x4 on dry asphalt. Ever. Especially if you aren't going in a perfectly straight line. Bad nasty things happen.

Occasionally (rarely) I will have part-time 4x4 engaged driving to work when there's snow and ice on the road and I'll forget to disengage when I go home (after the ice and snow have melted). The TC will bind and literally bring the Jeep to a stop. That's perfectly normal.

If you have full-time 4x4, then something is obviously wrong.

Interesting I havnt really used my part time until this winter we had a record 62" in 2 weeks, so I was using it alot on the snow and Ice. No problems no noise. Every once in a while i might find a dry spot but still no noise, I went on vacation for a few weeks jeep sat came home was screwing around one day on the snow banks for fun went to turn a corner and the dam thing was howling and grinding to a stop.

So all my previous 4 wheel drive vehicles never had a part time 4 wheel drive.

So what your saying is its normal and now Ive jacked it up and need repairs, so its a common problem with the part time in jeeps.

Or the noise is normal and I need not worry?

Either im gonna ahve jeep check it out, just trying tog et as much Info as possible, especially from anyone with more jeep experience than I have

thanks for the input so far

DON"T RUN PART TIME ON PAVEMENT.Remove it from part time and all will be fine.Unless you run it too much already.

Ok thanks fro the responses..

So what it all boils down to is their is a few ways to go about testing this.

1. find some snow or gravel pop it in part time and drive see if it still makes a ton of noise

or

2. put it in 4low and drive around and again see if it makes a ton of noise and see if i get alot of drag.

Now you got to understand I have always run my part time in the snow, but we got an excessive amount this year and found myself running it alot. It wasnt till recently that I ran it on dry pavement and that was only for a very short short duration, infact the second it made noise i turned it off.
